Pocket Aces Not Helping Punsri Today

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Punnat Punsri
Punnat Punsri

Pocket aces is the hand everybody dreams of being dealt, but they haven't been working out so well for Punnat Punsri so far today.

Punsri opened under the gun and then called the button shove of David Coleman, who had 350,000 in his stack.

David Coleman: J10 All in
Punnat Punsri: AA

Coleman was way, way behind, but had the kind of hand needed to crack an overpair. The flop of 579 did offer Coleman a way out with a gutshot, but it was Punsri who improved when the A turn gave him top set.

Only an eight could save Coleman, and that's exactly what came as the 8 river gave him a straight.

Counts on Table #2

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Jorstad Flushes Away Punsri's Aces

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Espen Jorstad
Espen Jorstad

From under the gun, Espen Jorstad made it 30,000 before Punnat Punsri three-bet to 80,000 out of the cutoff. Jorstad called when the action folded to him.

Jorstad checked the monotone 3J5 flop, and Punsri bet 40,000. Jorstad gathered together the call.

Jorstad checked for a second time on the 6 turn, and Punsri fired again, this time for 90,000. Jorstad deliberated momentarily and then called with 295,000 remaining in his stack.

The 8 river got a final check from Jorstad. Punsri burned through a time bank and then jammed to put Jorstad all in. Jorstad took one look back at his cards, then immediately called.

Punsri had AA for aces, but was trumped by Jorstad's A6 for the nut flush. Jorstad moved up to over a million, while Punsri was down to 1,200,000.

Sturm's Sevens Wins Him the Pot

Level 13 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Sturm knuckled the action over to O'Dwyer on the 9A5 flop, and O'Dwyer threw out a bet of 45,000. Sturm continued with a call.

The 6 turn and 2 river checked through and Sturm turned over 77 for a pair of sevens. O'Dwyer looked back at his cards, then returned them to the dealer, allowing the pot to be sent to Sturm.

Aleksejs Ponakovs

Kayhan Mokri raised to 35,000 from under the gun and Aleksejs Ponakovs called from the small blind. Espen Jorstad was in the big blind and bumped it up to 140,000, which both Mokri and Ponakovs called.

The trio saw a flop of 899, where Ponakovs led out for 45,000. Both Jorstad and Mokri dropped in calling chips to see the 7 turn, where Ponakovs again fired, this time for 60,000. Jorstad had seen enough and elected to fold, but Mokri stuck around with a call.

A 7 double-paired the board and Ponakovs burned through two time banks before he checked, and Mokri knuckled back.

Ponakovs tabled a pair of jacks with JJ, and that was good for the pot as Mokri mucked.
