On the last hand before the break, Terrance Reid opened to 40,000 in early position and Michael Rossitto three-bet in the hijack. The action folded back to Reid who four-bet shoved as the bigger stack. Rossitto quickly called off his stack of just over 400,000 and the cards were on their backs.
Michael Rossitto: A♦K♠
Terrance Reid: 10♠10♦
It was a coin flip and the flop of J♦8♦2♦ left Reid out front with the only pair. Rossitto had the better of the two flush draws but the 5♥ and 3♥ runout changed nothing and Rossitto was sent to the payout desk.
Jon Kyte and Frank Lagodich exchanged some preflop raises with eventually all of the chips getting in the middle. Lagodich was the player at risk for a little over 800,000 but it was Kyte who held the superior hand.
Frank Lagodich: AxKx
Jon Kyte: A♥A♣
The flop came 3♣2♣2♦ and Kyte was in firm control of the pot with his pocket aces. The 8♦ on the turn left Lagodich drawing dead to the K♥ on the river. With the elimination, Kyte has vaulted to the top of the leaderboard with over 3,000,000 chips.
Baurzhan Akimov opened to 40,000 in middle position and Frank Lagodich shoved all in for 440,000 in the big blind. Akimov asked for a count and then flicked in a chip to call.
Frank Lagodich: 6♠6♦
Baurzhan Akimov: A♠10♦
The board ran out Q♦9♣2♠2♣K♦ and the pocket pair of Lagodich held on to double up through Akimov.
Jon Kyte and Adi Aizin went heads-up to the river on a board of A♥8♥7♣10♥7♦ with around 200,000 in the pot. Kyte then bet 110,000 from the big blind before Aizin raised to 380,000 in early position.
Kyte spent a minute counting out the wall of chips in front of him before sliding forward a reraise to 850,000. Aizin snap-folded, and Kyte showed K♣2♣ for a bluff. "First suicidal bluff of the tournament," he said.
A few hands later at this table, Loic Dobrigna had bet 40,000 from under the gun on a flop of 9♦K♠8♠ and Jack Hardcastle called in the big blind.
Dobrigna bet 115,000 on the 4♣ turn, and Hardcastle again called. The river was the 7♥ and Dobrigna moved all in. Hardcastle had around 215,000 remaining and took a minute before folding.
Meanwhile, Paulina Loeliger and Toby Lewis had built a pot of around 400,000 as they went to the river on a completed board of 7♠Q♥J♥6♥2♥. Loeliger then moved all in for 300,000 in the hijack, and Lewis snap-called in the small blind.
Lewis showed A♥J♠ for the nut flush, and Loeliger could only show K♠8♠ as she headed to the rail.
The action folded around to John Sacha in the small blind who just ripped all in for 535,000. Marc Foggin was in the big blind and asked for a count. He contemplated for a minute and then called to put Sacha at risk.
John Sacha: J♥9♣
Marc Foggin: A♣10♥
The flop came 8♣6♣4♥ and Foggin's ace-high was still in the lead. The 10♣ on the turn gave both players options but it was the K♣ on the river that gave Foggin the best flush and Sacha was eliminated.
Brandon Sunshine opened to 40,000 in middle position and Paulina Loeliger three-bet to 120,000 on his left. The action folded back to Sunshine who made it 320,000, leaving just 5,000 chips behind. Loeliger announced all in and Sunshine waited before calling off his last chip.
Brandon Sunshine: J♣J♦
Paulina Loeliger: A♠K♦
"This is my favorite hand," Sunshine said before the board was dealt. The board ran out 8♠6♦5♦10♥6♠ and Sunshine's pocket pair held on to double up through Loeliger.
Frank Lagodich raised to 40,000 on the button, Russel McClean moved all in for 180,000 in the small blind, and Lagodich snap-called.
Russel McClean: A♦5♦
Frank Lagodich: Q♥Q♦
Lagodich showed down a pair of queens, and McClean was looking for an ace to stay alive. The 9♦3♥6♠9♥10♣ board was no help, and McClean was sent to the rail.
Aaron Massey raised to 40,000 under the gun and Anatoly Nikitin three-bet to 130,000 in middle position. Nikolai Mamut then four-bet to 220,000 in the hijack, and only Nikitin called.
The flop came Q♦3♣5♠ and Mamut bet 115,000. Nikitin called to see the 4♦ turn, where Mamut continued firing with a bet of 175,000. Nikitin quickly folded this time.
