Boivin Wins Another Big One; Riess Falls to Yaginuma

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

In a blind versus blind battle, Thomas Boivin bet 100,000 on a board of J594 and Baurzhan Akimov called.

The river was the 7 and Boivin bet another 400,000. Akimov took a minute before calling once more, and Boivin showed 55 for a set to win the pot.

At another table, Ryan Riess was all in for his last 50,000 from middle position and Jesse Yaginuma called in the big blind.

Ryan Riess: Q10 All in
Jesse Yaginuma: AK

Yaginuma hit top pair on the A97 flop, and the rest of the board ran out 98 to send the 2013 world champion to the rail.

Gusmao Runs Into One

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Evan Sandberg opened to 30,000 from under the gun and Michael Berk three-bet to 90,000 on his left. Pedro Gusmao moved all in for his last 75,000 in the small blind and Sandberg let his hand go.

Pedro Gusmao: AKAll in
Michael Berk: KK

The flop came 843 and Gusmao was still left searching for an ace. The Q and 5 runout changed nothing and Gusmao was sent to the payout desk.

At another table, Ryan Riess was also eliminated, bringing the field down to just 25 players.

Boivin Sniffs Out a Bluff

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Three players went to the turn on a board of J26A when Kai Nicholls bet 30,000 from the button. Both Jeremy Halaska and Thomas Boivin called in the blinds.

Nicholls bet another 85,000 on the K river and Halaska folded, but Boivin called once more. Nicholls instantly mucked his hand, and Boivin took the pot to climb over 2,000,000.

Porrello Fills Up to Bust Burlacu

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Robert Burlacu
Robert Burlacu

Robert Burlacu raised to 30,000 under the gun and Katherine Porrello moved all in from the big blind. Burlacu was well covered by Porrello but still waited for the dealer to count out her stack before he called for his last 300,000.

Robert Burlacu: AQ All in
Katherine Porrello: 99

Burlacu hit top pair on the Q109 flop, but Porrello spiked a set to leave Burlacu drawing thin. He was drawing dead after the 3 turn, while the Q fell on the river to improve Porrello to a full house and secure the knockout.

Green Catches Runner-Runner on Berk; Walsh Has a Sweat Against Gusmao

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Michael Walsh
Michael Walsh

Michael Berk raised to 30,000 in the hijack and Richard Green called on the button, as did Pedro Gusmao in the big blind.

Action checked to Green on the A32 flop and he bet 35,000. Only Berk called and they both checked the K turn.

Berk then led out for 20,000 on the Q river, and Green called. Berk showed A10 for top pair, but Green had KQ for running two pair to win the pot.

A few hands later at this table, Michael Walsh moved all in for 325,000 from the small blind and Gusmao called on the button.

Michael Walsh: QQ All in
Pedro Gusmao: AQ

The 362 flop gave Gusmao a flush draw, but he missed the 9 turn and K river, and Walsh doubled up.

Lewis Favors the Turn

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Toby Lewis opened to 30,000 in early position and was called by Kai Nicholls in the hijack and Peter Mugar in the big blind. The flop came J102 and the action checked to Nicholls who threw in a bet of 55,000. Mugar quickly folded but Lewis stuck around for the turn.

The A peeled off on the turn and Lewis led out with a bet of 60,000. Nicholls quickly dumped his cards into the muck and Lewis stacked the pot.

Latimer Gets There on the River, Green Invents a New Game

Level 20 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

"I'm going to start a new game. Double Deck No-Limit Hold'em. You could have suited aces," Richard Green said.

"Are the hand rankings the same?" Michael Berk asked.

"I don't know. I haven't thought about that," Green replied, suggesting the idea still had room for development.

Evan Sandberg then opened to 26,000 in the hijack, and both Green in the small blind and Phillip Latimer in the big blind called.

The flop came A68 and Sandberg continued for 30,000. Both opponents called and the A fell on the turn. Sandberg then bet 72,000, and only Latimer called.

Both players checked the J river, and Latimer showed 95 for a rivered flush to win the pot.
