Rast Falls to Zabukas

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With the pot already up to over 25,000, Brian Rast was in the blinds and checked the {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board to Victor Zabukas Begara, who was on the button. Zabukas thought for a bit before sliding six T-5,000 chips in, enough to put Rast to the test for his remaining stack of around 25,000.

Rast studied the board intensely and muttered to himself to go over all the possible options. After two minutes, he put in a call. Zabukas showed him the bad news with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Rast mucked his hand. The dealer revealed {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Rast was eliminated.

Muehloecker Flushes Freitas

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Vanessa Selbst bluffed with a busted straight draw right into the top set of aces of Victor Choupeaux to bust. Chris Hunichen entered late after finishing 4th in the Super High Roller, he sits next to Joe Cada and the latter watches the NFL match on the big screen in the Ballroom.

Daniel Negreanu doubled with queens against the jacks of Nicolas Cardyn. And last but not least, Thomas Muehloecker just won a bigger pot off Fabio Freitas when his value bet on the river was called.

Freitas had opened to 1,600 and Muehloecker called on the button. On the {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Freitas continued for 1,200 and was called before firing again for 2,100 on the {J-Clubs} turn. Muehloecker raised to 9,000 and the call of the Brazilian followed. On the {4-Hearts} river, Freitas check-called a bet of 17,000 to muck as soon as Muehloecker had turned over {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a turned straight and rivered flush.

Stewart Clipped by Ruzicka

Scott Stewart in the PSPC

Vojtech Ruzicka raised to 1,800 in middle position and Barry Greenstein called on the button. Scott Stewart moved in for his final 7,300 from the small blind and both Ruzicka and Greenstein called. On the {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, Ruzicka got rid of Greenstein with a bet of 6,000.

Scott Stewart: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Vojtech Ruzicka: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

Neither the {3-Spades} turn nor {4-Hearts} river helped Stewart and he headed for the rail. Ruzicka, who had 16k at the dinner break, is up to 56k.

Rheem Near the Top

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Chino Rheem seems to be among the current chip leaders after taking out yet another short stack in Uwe Ritter. The German put his hopes on {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Rheem called with {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}. A jack on the flop and queen on the river sealed the fate for Ritter.

Luke Marsh is slowly but surely building a big stack, too, along with Yan Li, Niall Farrell and Danny Tang.
