Addamo Picks Up Multi-Way Pot

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Justin Bonomo opened the action from the cutoff to 8,000 and both Stephen Chidwick and Michael Addamo made the call from the blinds.

The flop came {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and play checked to Bonomo who continued for 8,000, which both Chidwick and Addamo came along. On the {7-Spades} turn Chidwick checked and Addamo took the betting lead a small sizing of 6,000. Bonomo and Chidwick both completed and the {9-Diamonds} hit the river.

Action checked through to a showdown and Addamo tabled {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for two pair, scoring the pot when both opponents mucked.

More for Mateos; Brewer Defeats Thorel

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jean Thorel
Jean Thorel

Adrian Mateos called a bet of 55,000 by Justin Bonomo on the {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} turn when the latter was in the big blind. The {9-Hearts} river was checked and Bonomo showed the {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for the bottom pair, which Mateos had beat holding the {a-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives.

One table over, the completed board showed {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Jean-Noel Thorel checked. Chris Brewer bet 50,000 and that was announced by the dealer as well. Thorel tossed in five T-25,000 chips and some confusion emerged when Brewer tabled the {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

The floorman was called as Thorel claimed he would not have called 50,000 but only 25,000. However, since the dealer had clarified the amount and also explained it in French, the bet stood.

Thorel was left with some 20 blinds and those also found their way into Brewer's stack shortly after.

Haxton Scores Three-Bet Pot

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Dan Smith opened to 8,000 from the hijack and Isaac Haxton put in a three-bet to 31,000 on the button. The rest of the table got out of the way and Smith made the call.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}, and Smith checked to Haxton who continued with a bet of 22,000. Smith took close to 30 seconds before tossing in chips for the call.

The {2-Hearts} hit the turn and Smith checked a second time. Haxton elected to size up to 70,000, and without much thought, Smith folded.

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
David Yan
David Yan

In a preflop all-in contest, David Yan was the player at risk for just shy of 25 big blinds and it was a typical coin flip against table neighbour Aleksejs Ponakovs.

David Yan: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Aleksejs Ponakovs: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Pocket nines once more prevailed on Day 2 thanks to a board of {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} as Yan rivered a set of nines.

PN Pod Mori Eskandani
PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.

Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

Rob Yong opened the action from under the gun to 8,000 and only Chris Brewer came along from the big blind.

The dealer fanned out {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Brewer check-called a bet of 6,000 from Yong. On the {2-Hearts} turn Brewer checked a second time, and Yong sized up to 20,000, which Brewer called again.

The {5-Clubs} hit the river and Brewer checked to Yong who gathered chips, but then decided to check back to a showdown. Brewer tabled {j-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a pair of eights and Yong mucked his cards, sending the pot to Brewer.

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Having previously doubled through Juan Pardo two times, Dan Smith then finished the job soon after they came back from the break. Pardo had 4,000 chips behind when they got it in after the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} turn and he tabled the {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Smith was ahead with the {q-Spades}{j-Spades} and the kicker played on the {6-Hearts} river.

Addamo Doubles Through Kisacikoglu

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Michael Addamo raised to 8,000 and was called by Adrian Mateos. Orpen Kisacikoglu also called out of the big blind as well. The {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Spades} flop was checked by Kisacikoglu, who was then the only caller after a bet worth 4,000 by Addamo.

On the {10-Diamonds} turn, Kisacikoglu check-called for another 26,000 and that led them to the {10-Hearts} on the river.

After a third check by Kisacikoglu, Addamo bet 104,000 with a single T-1,000 chip behind and Kisacikoglu called to muck upon being shown {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for the flopped nut flush.
