He Chang raised to 1,200 from under the gun and was called by Phanlert Sukonthachartnant in the cutoff and Hongjiu Zhao in the big blind.
They all checked through the flop to the on the turn. Zhao checked, Chang continued with a bet of 1,700 and both Sukonthachartnant and Zhao called.
The river completed the board with the and they all checked again. Zhao showed for the flopped straight and that was enough for the rest to muck their hands.
Quan Zhou raised to 1,500 from under the gun and action folded to Xinyong Kong in the small blind. Kong three-bet to 6,250. Zhou looked at the remainder of Kong's stack and decided to put Kong all-in. Kong called for not much more.
Xinyong Kong:
Quan Zhou:
The board ran out to not provide any help to Kong. Kong just smiled and sent his assistant to the cashier to reenter.
The sole Macanese player in the field, Hui Dong Gu, has recently won a small pot from tablemate Ye Wang. It was Gu who was the instigator, making it 1,050 with a chuckle when the action folded around to him on the button.
Wang elected to defend from the big blind and threw in the call to take action heads-up to a monochrome flop of . Both players seemed a little gun shy and checked, leaving the dealer to burn and turn the .
Wang checked once more, opening the door for Gu to take a stab for 1,300, which Wang called after a short visit to the think tank.
The river paired the board and there was no more betting. Wang tabled but this was not enough to beat Gu's turned two pair with leaving the Macanese player to rake in the pot and climb to 51,100 while Wang dropped back down to starting stack.
We caught the tail end of a sizable pot that played out on the next table over immediately after this, arriving in time to see Wenling Gao put Duan Chao to the test.
The community cards were spread and there was just over 23,000 in chips in the pot when Gao fired out a bet of 14,000 from the hijack.
Chao was the man in position and seemed reluctant to make the call. Eventually, tablemate Dongzhe Yang called for a clock and there were just seconds to spare before Chao grudgingly slid in the call.
Gao flipped over for a missed backdoor flush draw and gutshot straight draw but a rivered pair of tens. However, this was not enough to beat Chao's rivered Broadway straight with and he pulled in a decent sized pot to climb to 71,000 while Gao took a hit and is now short on 10,700.
Just after the break, Phanlert Sukonthachartnant joined the field and a fourth table was opened. Sukonthachartnant finished in 2nd place last year and will be looking to do even better this time.
William Fasano had shoved all in for 9,450 from the button and was called by Sukonthachartnant in the big blind.
William Fasano:
Phanlert Sukonthachartnant:
The flop came to give Sukonthachartnant an open-ended straight draw.
The turn was the to give Sukonthachartnant a pair of sevens. Fasano now just needed to avoid a three, ace, or another seven to double-up.
The on the river was just what Fasano didn't want to see and he quickly left the table.
Two of the tournament's new arrivals clashed in a hand, with Jiayu Ruan opening the action to 1,025 from under-the-gun and Wenling Gao opting to defend her big blind and making the call.
Gao checked the flop over to Ruan, who continuation-bet 1,200, which Gao quickly called. This pattern repeated on the turn, with Gao check-calling Ruan's 2,500-second barrel.
The river saw no betting and Gao turned over for a flopped second pair, which was now forth pair. However, Ruan had paired up on the river and his was good for the pot.
The board read and there was around 11,000 in the middle already. Yilu Yuan checked from under the gun and Preston lee bet 5,000 which Yuan called.
The on the river completed the board and Yuan checked for the last time. Lee looked at Yuan's stack and put him all-in. Yuan snap-called for his last 10,750. Lee flipped over for two pair, aces and tens with the king-kicker. Yuan got up from his seat and left the table. The dealer turned around [ahjc[ for Yuan to show Yuan's cards and it was an all-in situation and cards had to be shown.
