Ten more players are through to Day 2 of the partypoker $500,000 Guarantee Candian Grand Prix. On the final hand of the day, he eliminated Kathy Sawers when she check-raised the flop with second pair. El Megharbel called with top pair and stay ahead to eliminate Sawers and send the remaining ten players through to Day 2.

The flight drew 95 entries and started at 10 a.m. Several of the players that failed to make it through this flight quickly reentered the later flights to take another shot at making Day 2.

El Megharbel is still about 300,000 off the overall leader, Mike Stannard who bagged virtually bagged 668,500 from one of the online flights. There are still several flights, both online and live left to get a spot in Day 2 and compete for a share of the $500,000 guarantee. Day 1e just started and Day 1f is later this evening. There are four more flights tomorrow, with the first one beginning at 10 p.m.

Sofiane Boulila and Fouad Akli Two Big Stacks With 50 left

Sofiane Boulila and Fouad Akli are the two of the biggest stacks remaining in Day 1c and they are sitting right next to each other.

Boulila extended his lead, beating Akli in a pot and then Akli busted Gagnon to regain some ground.

Hand #1:

Three players saw the flop for 4,000. The flop was {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Boulila checked. Akli bet and Boulila was the only caller.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Boulila checked again. Akli bet 11,000 and Boulila called. The river was the {2-Clubs} and both players checkedd. Boulila showed {10-Spades}{6-Clubs} for a flush and Akli mucked his hand.

Hand #2:

On the very next hand, Jean Pierre Gagnon went all in for about 10,800 and Boulila called. Then Akli raised to about 35,000 and Boulila folded. Akli had {j-}{j-} against the {a-Spades}{2-Hearts} of Gagnon. The board ran out {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Gagnon was eliminated.

Kathy Sawers Building a Stack

Level nine is about to begin and Kathy Sawers is sitting with over 60 big blinds.

Ronald Macdonald just won a good size pot without seeing a flop. Marco Simonetti and Sofiane Boulila had 1,800 in front of them and David Garcia made it 4,500 from the cutoff before Macdonald shoved all in for 21,700 and everyone folded.
