The seventh starting flight of the World Cup of Cards Event #16: $500,000 partypoker Canadain Grand Prix has come to an end with 14 players qualifying for Day 2. Friday evening's Day 1g turbo flight inside Playground Poker Club attracted a field of 135 entries. Bagging the chip lead on Day 1g was Yann Touchette with 538,500.

Touchette grabbed the chip lead on the very last hand of the night, busting Sean Hollohan on the bubble. Touchette shoved preflop with ace-ten but was behind Hollohan's ace-king. Touchette hit a ten on the flop scooped the pot.

Other big stacks at the end of play were Manny Walia (380,500), Daniel Beauregard (220,000), Christos Sfyridis (215,500), and Alexandre Renaud (191,000).

A number of notables and familiar faces around Playground took their shot this evening. A few failing to survive include [Removed:533], Jason Conforti, Ruben Perceval, and Andrew Boujaoude.

Players will have four more opportunities to qualify live at Playground on Saturday, along with a number of online Day 1 flights via partypoker.

Sean Hollohan Bubbles Day 2; Remaining 14 Moving On

Sean Hollohan opened to 30,000 from middle position, Yan Touchette moved all-in for around 300,000, and Hollohan snap-called.

Hollohan: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Touchette: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Hollohan was set for the double up but his hopes quickly faded as the board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, pairing Touchette's ten and Hollohan would be the last player eliminated on Day 1g.

Renaud Cracks Kings, Doubles Up

Alexandre Renaud moved all-in preflop and was snap-called by Ronnie Wright. Knowing he was in trouble, Renaud tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Wright turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} showing Renaud what he already assumed.

The board, however, had some luck for Renaud, running out {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Renaud hit a set of tens on the flop and they would hold to double through and cripple Wright.
