The penultimate starting flight of Event #16: $500,000 partypoker Canadain Grand Prix is in the books. The 4 p.m., Day 1j flight received a total of 298 entries with 30 seats on Day 2 up for grabs. [Removed:375] was among the leaders all day and ended play at the top.

[Removed:376] bagged a stack of 527,500 to claim the chip lead. Eric Boissonneault (525,000), Richard Edward Shaver (474,000), Said Michailidis (416,500), and Radu Mircea Pop (344,500) round out the top five.

A number of notables and familiar faces around Playground took their shot this afternoon. A few failing to survive were Jeff Madsen, Buddy Villaluz, Ruben Perceval, Jeffrey Cormier, Isabelle Mercier, and Day 1j 'bubble boy' Gary Biggar.

The final flight is underway here at Playground this evening, but registration has closed. This was the last chance players had to qualify for Sunday's Day 2 for $109. Anybody failing to qualify, live or online, or wanting to start with a larger stack may buy-in directly to Day 2 for $1,100 and receive a starting stack of 200,000.

Day 2 kicks off at 1 p.m. inside Playground Poker Club Sunday. The field will play 14 levels before bagging for the final day.
