Level 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Colby Hartje was put in a tough spot in Level 1, he as he had bet 15,500 preflop, in what appeared to be a four-bet from the big blind.

The player on the button, John Bolton five-bet jammed all in. Hartje leaned back and said "I'm gonna need a minute" but ended up folding {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} face up fairly quickly, deciding not to commit all of his chips in the first hour of the day.

"Good fold?" he enquired, Bolton gave away no information as he raked in the pot.

The board read {6-}{10-}{7-}{a-}{2-} with Ballard's {9-}{8-} being the winner.

His opponent had {a-}{10-} and after all the chips got in on the turn it was Ballard who came out on top with the straight.

The turn was {7-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {3-Diamonds}.

Aoki checked once more and the button fired 1,600. Aoki called and her opponent reluctantly turned over {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Aoki had {a-Spades}{10-Spades} to take the pot with ace high.

The {7-Hearts} completed the run out and both players checked. The pot was sent to Gu who held {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a pair of nines, besting Lafreniere's {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

A Couple of Runners-Up

Level 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

As the Amazon Room adorns the Main Event champions from years past, there are those who came oh so close to having their banner hanging. Two of those who can relate are seated today on Day 1c.

The 2013 second place finisher, Jay Farber was seen taking in a pot early on the day and a few tables away, 2018 runner-up Tony Miles is also seated and ready to charge toward another potential deep run in 2021.
