Bad Moment For Negreanu

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Down to 10,000 chips, Daniel Negreanu defended his big blind after a player in middle position opened to 1,800.

On QQQ, the player in middle position continued with a bet of 1,600, and Negreanu called.

Then on the turn 5, the player in middle position put his pile of red chips in front of him to force Negreanu to go all in. But the Canadian didn't.

On the very next hand, the button opened to 1,600, and Negreanu moved all in with his remaining 7,600 chips. The button took a moment to think about his decision but eventually folded.

Pescatori Forfeits Some Chips

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Max Pescatori was in early position and was contesting a 5,000 pot against Jose Jaraiz in the next seat over. Pescatori bet out for 2,000 on the 2710 flop and received a call from Jaraiz.

The 6 turn was then dealt and Pescatori slowed down with a check. Jaraiz took the opportunity to bet 6,000 chips and Pescatori quickly folded.

Meanwhile, Humberto Brenes is also sitting at this table and has increased his stack by a few big blinds since the start of play.

Bad Day At the Office for Zhang So Far

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Hao Liu moved all in for the last 10,000 and he was isolated by Xulong Zhang, who pushed all in over the top.

Hao Liu: 22
Xulong Zhang: KK

The Q528A board gave Liu a set of deuces and Zhang grabbed out his phone to take a picture, then reiterated what a bad day it had been for him so far.

"At least it was only against a short stack for ten thousand," another player at the table remarked.

Merrick Only Bluffs Once, Allegedly

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Baker Abdallah raised from the hijack and called a subsequent three-bet to 5,500 by cutoff Andrew Merrick.

The flop was fanned out 852 and Merrick continued for 6,500 after a check from Abdallah. The latter then called and the 9 turn hit the felt.

Merrick now upped the ante to 15,000 after another check from his opponent, and again Abdallah called. The 9 river completed the board and Abdallah checked for a third time.

This time, Merrick put out a big bet of 32,000 chips. Abdallah quickly folded and Merrick showed his 107 for just ten-high.

"This is my only bluff of the day," Merrick claimed as he was stacking his new chips.

Barnes Rises With Rocket

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Christopher Chaudey raised to 1,700 in early position which saw Anthony Barnes three bet to 5,300 from the hijack and on the button, Ivan Govorov four bet to 18,000. Chaudey asked for a count of Govorov's stack before tossing his hand into the muck and Barnes moved all in for 57,000 effective and Govorov called.

Ivan Govorov: JJ
Anthony Barnes: AA

The board ran out K78102 and Chaudey turned away from the table in frustration as he said he folded AK which would have made a flush, while it was Barnes' aces that remained ahead for him to take down the pot and eliminate Govorov from the tournament.

Zamani Not Wasting Time Stacking Chips

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Martin Zamani was under the gun and bet 1,700 on a flop of K4Q. Daniel Murphy called in early position, while another opponent in the big blind folded.

The turn came the A and Zamani checked. Murphy fired out 5,000 and Zamani folded as Murphy showed J10.

Despite dropping that pot, Zamani has already doubled his stack after late registering on Day 2. "He's only been here for 15 minutes and he's already running elaborate bluffs. He's proof-positive to buy-in on Day 2," a tablemate said.
