McShea Leads Twice

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Kevin McShea opened to 3,500 from under the gun and called a three-bet of 9,000 from Manuel Reyes, who was in middle position.

The flop came K85 and McShea led out for 12,000. Reyes clicked it to 24,000 and McShea called.

McShea shoved for his last 29,500 after the A fell on the turn and Reyes re-checked his hole cards before sending them into the muck.

At another table, Chad Holloway has enjoyed a nice level and has built his stack from 15,000 to over 100,000.

Mekouane Holds On

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Songpyng Twu raised in early position to 3,000, and only Jalil Mekouane made the call, defending his big blind.

Melouane check-called a bet of 2,500 on a 387 flop, and they moved on to a A turn.

When Melouane checked for a second time, Twu continued with a bet of 3,000. Again, Melouane called.

Twu gave up on the A river, checking back. Melouane turned over K7, and Twu mucked his cards.

Hirschfield Coolers Firestone For a Double

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Michael Bohmerwald bet 4,000 from middle position on a flop of 995 and Andre Akkari called in the hijack, as did Larry Hirschfield in the cutoff. Robert Firestone then raised to 20,000 in the big blind.

Bohmerwald and Akkari folded, but Hirschfield reraised to 44,000. Firestone moved all in, and Hirschfield called for 96,000. "I hope you have nine-ten," Firestone said as they went to reveal their cards.

Larry Hirschfield: K9 All in
Robert Firestone: Q9

Both players had flopped trips, but Hirschfield was ahead with his king-kicker. The rest of the board ran out 27 and he doubled up. Bohmerwald revealed later that he folded two queens.

Zhang Turns The Straight

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Shotaro Kobayashi raised in late position to 3,000 and in the cutoff, Hongru Zhang three-bet to 9,000 and only Kobayashi called.

Both players checked the flop of 786 over to the turn 4 where Kobayashi check-called a bet of 5,000 from Zhang.

Kobayashi bet 8,000 on the river and Zhang wasted little time in calling.

At showdown Kobayashi showed 1010 for a pair of tens, but it was no good against Zhang's A5 for a straight.

Stokes Puts "Easty" in Blender

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Nick Eastwood
Nick Eastwood

Jamin Stokes raised to 3,500 in early position, and Nick Eastwood three-bet to 11,000 in the adjacent seat. It folded back to Stokes, who called to the 845 flop.

Stokes checked, and Eastwood checked behind, leading to the 7 turn appearing. Stokes took the initiative with a bet of 14,000, which Eastwood called.

The 8 emerged as the river, and Stokes promptly moved all in for about twice the pot, covering the 122,000 chips of Eastwood.

"Why go all in?" Eastwood pondered. "Why not bet less?"

Eastwood went deep into the tank and tried to get some information out of his opponent, to no avail.

"It smells like bullsh*t,” he eventually said, but some moments later, he opted to fold his hand.

Eastwood requested Stokes to table his hand, and Stokes complied by showing KJ for a stone-cold bluff. Eastwood admitted he contemplated calling with ace-king but ultimately could not pull the trigger.

"F*ck," he simply stated as the next hand was dealt.
