2025 World Series of Poker
In a heads-up pot on a board of 2♦5♥5♣K♦, Marc Evanier was all in for 56,000 and Roi Sabag called with a bigger stack.
Marc Evanier: 2♠2♣
Roi Sabag: J♣J♠
Evanier had flopped a boat and had Sabag drawing thin, but the dealer found the J♥ on the river to suck the life out of Evanier as Sabag made the better full house.
"Sorry man," Sabag said after the major suckout.
With the board showing A♠9♠K♣4♠7♣ and around 110,000 in the middle, action checked to Curtis King in the hijack. He made a bet for roughly 275,000, easily covering both Diego Sanchez Serrano and Jean-Robert Autran in the blinds.
Serrano went deep into the tank before ultimately folding, leaving Autran to make the decision for his tournament life. After a long pause, Autran committed the chips and made the call.
King tabled Q♠10♠ for the second-nut flush, and Autran could only shake his head as he revealed 8♠7♠ for a weaker flush.
Autran was visibly crushed as he hit the rail, while King raked in a hefty pot to continue his rise up the chip counts.
As the chips were pushed across the table, Serrano quietly added, “I folded king of spades,” revealing just how few outs either player had to hit their flush.
Virgile Turchi raised to 8,000 in the cutoff and in the big blind, Roman Hrabec called.
Hrabec checked the flop of 10♣8♦4♦ over to Turchi who bet 15,000. Hrabec raised to 35,000, prompting Turchi to move all in for 143,000 and Hrabec called.
Virgile Turchi: A♠10♦
Roman Hrabec: 8♥8♠
The board ran out 5♣9♣ and the set of eights was good for Hrabec to grow his stack while Turchi was eliminated from the tournament.
Derek Stark raised in the cutoff to 8,000, Vahid Hamrah called on the button and Lejdin Fazlibegu announced all in for 85,000, Stark isolated with a shove and Hamrah folded.
Lejdin Fazlibegu: K♠Q♦
Derek Stark: A♦Q♥
The board ran out 5♦5♥3♦4♥Q♣, pairing both players on the river, but Stark's kicker played, and Fazlibegu was eliminated.
Daniel Negreanu opened to 8,000 in early position and Simon Levy three-bet to 25,000 in the small blind. Negreanu pulled out his selfie stick and said "this means I've decided" before four-bet jamming a stack of 53,000. Levy called.
Daniel Negreanu: 9♥9♦
Simon Levy: A♥Q♠
"Okay, we're ahead," Negreanu said when his opponent turned over ace-queen.
The flop of 4♣8♠K♥ didn't change anything, but the 10♥ turn gave Levy additional outs with a Broadway draw. However, the Q♣ river was all he needed to send the Poker Hall of Famer to the rail.
"Ay ay ay. GG. Main Event done," Negreanu said as he left.
Action was picked up with cards on their backs with Robert Eichele all in and at risk for his last 76,000 from the small blind against Joshua Payne from under the gun.
Robert Eichele: A♥Q♥
Joshua Payne: K♥K♦
The board ran out K♣J♣8♦A♦3♠ and the set of kings was good for Payne to eliminate Eichele from the tournament.
Martin Alcaide raised and was called by both players in the blinds including Long Nguyen and Jack Sinclair, the latter very short-stacked. On the K♥9♦2♦ flop, it checked to Alcaide and he bet 11,000 for Nguyen to call and Sinclair to fold.
The J♠ turn saw Nguyen check and then fold when Alcaide bet 50,000.
One hand later, Nguyen raised the button to 10,000 and then called when Sinclair jammed 21,000 only from the small blind.
Jack Sinclair: 8♣8♠
Long Nguyen: 9♣5♥
"One over card," Nguyen laughed when the cards were revealed and he improved right away on the 9♥6♦2♥ flop. The 2♦ turn and 6♠ river were blanks and that was it for Sinclair.
"Nine five?" Daniel Marin asked his table neighbour and Nguyen only smirked.
Stephane Viget raised to 9,000 and then quickly called the preflop shove by Andrew Lichtenberger for around 65,000.
Andrew Lichtenberger: A♥K♣
Stephane Viget: J♠J♥
The 9♠6♥5♦3♣9♥ runout brought no help and Lichtenberger was eliminated, his massage therapist was rather disappointed about the outcome of the hand and Lichtenberger simply said "it's okay" before grabbing all his belongings.
