Yanovsky Hits the Ground Running

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

In one of the first couple of hands back from the final break of the day, Mike Matusow kicked things off with a raise to 3,500 from under the gun. Rui Campos responded with a three-bet to 10,500 from the cutoff, before the small blind, Eric Yanovsky, cold four-bet jammed for 83,500.

Matusow quickly got out of the way, but Campos gave it some more thought. After getting confirmation of the bet amount and taking stock of his own stack, he opted to fold.

Yanovsky showed that he had JJ, before Matusow and Campos both shared that they had folded ace-queen.

Kicker Problems for Negreanu

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Chin Wei Lim opened to 3,000 from middle position and received calls from Daniel Negreanu in the small blind and Tobias Schwecht in the big blind.

All three players checked the A710 flop leading to the 6 turn. Negreanu bet 5,500 and only Lim called. Both remaining players then checked the 3 river.

Negreanu had second pair with J10 but Lim had Q10 for a pair of tens with a higher kicker to take the pot.

Boivan Eliminates Alioto

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Piero Alioto raised before Boivan popped it to 10,000 in the next seat over. Alioto responded with a four-bet shove for 35,000 total. Boivan snap called to send them to a showdown with Alioto at risk.

Piero Alioto: AKAll in
Thomas Boivin: AA

Alioto held a premium hand, but Boivan was sitting pretty with the best starting hand in the game.

Alioto was unable to crack Boivan's aces on the 2486Q runout to be out of contention.

Lehr Gives it Up

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The action was joined as Alexander Zubov, on the button, and Keith Lehr, in the big blind, were heading to the flop in a three-bet pot.

With 25,500 already in the pot, the dealer fanned out a 3Q5 flop, and Lehr continued for 16,000. Zubov made the call, and they headed to a turn.

The dealer added the J to the board, and Lehr opted to bet again, this time for a more substantial 40,000. Again, Zubov made the call.

When the river J paired the board, Lehr chose to slow down, checking the action to Zubov. Zubov followed suit and checked behind.

Lehr flipped over K7 for just king-high, which was unable to beat Zubov's KQ.
