Shota Nakanishi
Shota Nakanishi

Yita Choong opened from under the gun and it was folded to Shota Nakanishi, who shoved for 204,000 total on the button. Choong quickly called and hands were revealed.

Shota Nakanishi: AQAll in
Yita Choong: AKAll in

Nakanishi had one foot out the door with his dominated ace, but the Q84 flop vaulted him into the lead after pairing his queen.

The 32 runout changed nothing and Nakanishi was awarded the double up while leaving Choong with just 40,000 left.

No Chop For Tran

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
JC Tran
JC Tran

Florian Guimond raised to 20,000 from under the gun, and JC Tran jammed for 97,000 from the next seat. Jose Lesta then four-bet to 175,000 from middle position, and when the action folded back to Guimond, he moved all in, having Lesta covered. After a bit of a tank, Lesta folded, preserving the 380,000 or so he had behind.

JC Tran: AQ All in
Florian Guimond: AK

Tran was dominated by Guimond's big slick, but looked over to his neighbor and asked, "You ok with a chop?" Guimond nodded, letting him know he wouldn't mind splitting the pot.

The dealer had other ideas, though, as the board ran out 975103, keeping Guimond's ace-king best throughout. Tran wished the table good luck before making his way to the payout desk.

Aaron Barone raised to 20,000 under the gun before John Monnette three-bet to 58,000 in early position. Stephen Kehoe called in the big blind, as did Barone.

The flop came AQ4 and Monnette bet 76,000. Kehoe then raised to 157,000 and Barone folded, while Monnette moved all in for 300,000. Kehoe snap-called.

John Monnette: AK All in
Stephen Kehoe: QQ

Dealer Runs the River Twice, Neither Help Zuk

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

The action was joined on the turn of a K845 board, on which Matthew Zuk checked from the big blind. The action was then on Xuan Liu in the hijack, but before she acted, the dealer dealt the 2 river.

The floor was called, and they ruled that the action would continue as normal; following that, the river card would be shuffled back in and re-dealt.

Liu bet 70,000 into a pot of roughly 90,000, and Zuk responded by moving all in for 251,000, which Liu called.

Matthew Zuk: K9 All in
Xuan Liu: 55

As it turned out, the river card was irrelevant, as Zuk was already drawing dead.

The new river brought the same card, just a different suit, as the 2 completed the board.

Ganesan found himself ahead with his pair of aces, and Cho couldn't catch up on the 7 turn or 2 river as he was sent to the rail.

"Let's go! I got my chips back, Jeremy. I won't make the same mistake this time," Ganesan said to Ausmus as he raked in the big pot.

Fabian Quoss raised to 16,000 in middle position and Evan Sandberg called in the hijack. Christopher Selami, wearing his trademark Sonic the Hedgehog toque, then three-bet to 80,000 in the small blind.

Quoss came back with a four-bet to 190,000 and Sandberg got out of the way. Selami, though, called to see the Q59 flop. Quoss then bet 100,000, and Selami again called.

Both players checked the 3 turn. Selami then led out for 150,000 on the 5 river, and Quoss folded.

Scott Lazar, the 2005 Main Event finalist, is also in this section with a stack of more than 500,000. "I'm just grateful to be here," Lazar said.

Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Josh Arieh raised to 18,000 under the gun and faced a three-bet to 36,000 from Michael Bickley in the cutoff. After a minute or so, Arieh four-bet to 90,000 and quickly faced a five-bet all in for 199,000, which he called.

"We might have the same hand", Ariah said in hope rather than expectation.

Michael Bickley: AA All in
Josh Arieh: AK

"I'm so bad at poker", Arieh continued once he saw the cards.

He found some outs on a QJ6 flop, but there was no bad beat to be dished out, as the A turn and 4 river completed the board.
