Ukraine's Renat Bohdanov Spikes Gutshot to Win Second WSOP Bracelet
Competitors fiercely battled in Event #35 $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em with players rising and falling as they all chased the gold bracelet at the 2025 World Series of Poker held at the Horseshoe and Paris Casino Las Vegas. Amongst the commotion at a rowdy final table, Renat Bohdanov endured the upswings and the downswings, capturing the top prize of $451,600, besting the field of 1,027 that generated a prize pool of $2,742,090.
This is Bohdanov's second WSOP bracelet. The first came in 2019 at Event #1 €350 Opener No-Limit Hold’em in Rozvadov for a first-place prize of €53,654. His win at the 2025 WSOP was worth nearly nine times that, making it the biggest score of his poker career. “This one was very important because it feels like a bigger one and more important, so I’m excited,” said Bohdanov to PokerNews after his victory.
Bohdanov came in the chip leader with eight left at the final table, but after a promising start, Bohdanov hit a rough patch that saw him dip as low as just over 4,000,000 in chips. The stoic Bohdanov endured the ugly start, and he remained unflappable while peering under the brim of his hoodie at his competition. Slowly but surely, the Ukrainian fought his way back into contention. After a double through Tsz Ho Chau, Bohdanov began to rise back up and regain his footing as the final table went on. “I was trying to play my ‘A’ game. I didn’t pay attention to any of my downs. I had a feeling that the game would be on my side,” said Bohdanov.

Losing chips early on wasn’t the only factor he dealt with as he faced the raucous Brazilian crowd there to cheer for Dennys Ramos. Luckily for Bohdanov, he had his supporters in tow, encouraging him every step of the way. Bohdanov thanked his supporters after his victory. “It was very important to me to hear the words of support, especially in between all of the Brazilian shouts,” said Bohdanov. As mighty as the Brazilian shouts were, they proved not to be enough to waver Bohdanov.
Bohdanov faced consistent pressure from Dennys Ramos throughout the final table. The two battled on multiple occasions. Bohdanov managed the pressure and caught Ramos bluffing at multiple key junctions, calling him down on several occasions to scoop multiple pots against his competitor. Bohdanov eventually overtook Ramos in the chip count when he won a race against Ramos with big slick versus pocket sevens, yet it would still not be smooth sailing from there.
The roller coaster session continued for Bohdanov even after his comeback. Despite regaining the chip lead, it did not last long as he entered the heads-up match trailing. The adversity continued after Ramos hobbled Bohdanov, when he took nearly 4,500,000 in chips off of him early in the duel.
Bohdanov held his ground after Ramos dealt the first blow, and his patience was rewarded when he got it in good against Ramos with a better ace to double up into the chip lead, then caught Ramos bluffing with just six high as he called him down with a nines. The combination of these two hands proved to be the difference maker, although Ramos doubled to battle back, Bohdanov’s ascension proved too much to overcome for his opponent as he took down the title and the top prize.
Bohdanov remained confident after his victory, and left off with one final statement: “This is just the beginning.”
