In what turned out to be a fast-paced final table at the 2025 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, Tyler Patterson emerged victorious in Event #49: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em. Patterson topped a field of 1,421 entries to capture his second WSOP gold bracelet and the event’s top prize of $574,223.
The event generated a total prize pool of $3,794,070, with Patterson claiming the lion’s share after defeating Matthew Wantman in a brief but intense heads-up battle. With this win, Patterson adds to an already impressive poker résumé that now boasts over $1.5 million in earnings.

Reaction to the Win
Patterson, a pro since 2007, celebrated this latest achievement surrounded by a boisterous rail of supporters. Among them was his wife, Carolyn, affectionately referred to by close friends as his “girlfriend,” who followed their journey from Scottsdale to Barbados and ultimately back to Las Vegas. Friends describe Patterson as “the best guy, an excellent golfer, and the best husband.” Their support was evident during the celebration, which included a champagne toast, despite Patterson being mid-juice cleanse thanks to a friendly bet with a visiting UK buddy.
The wager? Stick to the cleanse until one of them wins a bracelet. Mission accomplished.

Although he no longer studies poker theory in-depth, Patterson credits his early dedication to reading every book he could find on the subject. These days, he leans on his longtime friend and fellow poker pro, Matt Affleck, for guidance on GTO concepts. The two shared a home in Seattle years ago and have remained close ever since.
Patterson’s relaxed and jovial attitude at the table is part of his winning formula. Despite staying up late the night before and squeezing in an early morning golf game where he carded four birdies, he came into the final day feeling energized. That confidence proved prophetic.
Final Day Action
The key turning point came when Patterson picked up pocket aces against Connor Rash’s pocket kings, vaulting him into a dominant chip lead that he never relinquished. When heads-up play began, Wantman was short-stacked, and Patterson applied relentless pressure. At one point, Wantman turned to the rail and exclaimed, “This guy is a f@#$%^& machine.”
Wantman, who boasts over $8 million in live earnings and was the last remaining 25K Fantasy Draft pick in the field, proved a worthy opponent before finishing runner-up.
The day began with 69 players, and chips quickly flew as eliminations came in rapid succession. The final six players reached the feature table, where the action didn’t slow down. Notable names who made deep runs included English pro Andy Wilson (4th – $189,863), bracelet winner Ori Hasson (9th – $55,882), and 25K Fantasy Draft pick Uri Reichenstein (11th – $42,783).
