Chan Doubles

Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan
A late position player raised to 700 and the player in the cutoff position flat-called. Johnny Chan then moved all in from the button for 2,500. The blinds folded, as did the original raiser, leaving the player in the cutoff to play the role of the Sheriff.

The player sighed and said, "Gift" before calling with {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} to be racing against Chan's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The board fell Chan's way when it arrived {10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} doubling Chan up to 6,000 chips.

Timoshenko Can't Win 'em All

Yevgeniy Timoshenko is out of the tournament, courtesy of Mel Judah. Timoshenko bet 600 on a flop of {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} after Judah checked as first to act. Judah called the bet to see the {10-Hearts} hit the turn. Both players checked through to the river, which was the {4-Hearts}. Judah checked again, prompting Timoshenko to move all in. Judah called with {A-?} {7-?}, but before he could even turn his cards over, Timoshenko said, "You win." When he saw Judah's ace, he mucked his hand and stood up.

We're sure Timoshenko's disappointed to be out so early, but after winning $500,000 for taking first place in the APT Macau event on Sunday, he still has plenty to be happy about.

Some Steicke Magic

David Steicke
David Steicke
David Steicke has just pulled a rabbit out of the hat to double up. We caught the action on a flop of {2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Steicke led out for 625 from the big blind and his opponent in late position flat called.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts} and Steicke fired again for 1,000. His opponent again made the call.

The river landed the {3-Hearts} and Steicke fired another 3,600. His opponent then raise to 15,000 and Steicke called for the rest of his chips.

Steicke flipped {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a rivered gutshot straight to the disgust of his opponent who showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped set of tens. Steicke now sits with around 30,000 chips.

ElkY In Trouble

Unhappy Times For The Joker
Unhappy Times For The Joker
Mark Griffiths raised to 600 from the cutoff and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier made the call in the big blind.

The flop landed {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Grospellier check-called the 725 bet from Griffiths. The turn was the {9-Spades} and both players checked. The river brought the {7-Clubs} and Grospellier fired out 1,500. Griffith made the call.

Grospellier flipped {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} but Griffiths held {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to have Grospellier out-kicked. Griffiths jumps to 25,000 with "ElkY" now in trouble with only 2,975.

Saab Struggling

David Saab, Man of Steel
David Saab, Man of Steel
David Saab, dressed in a blue polo shirt with a Superman logo over the left breast, hasn't been playing much like the Man of Steel today. His stack is currently 7,850. He did just take down a pot against a short-stacked opponent by betting 3,000, enough to put his opponent all in, on a board of {8-Spades} {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {5-Diamonds}. That bet produced a winner for Saab, but he is talking to himself and let out a bit of a sigh after the hand.

Maybe the Man of Steel's proximity to the Joker, just a few tables away, is sapping some of his strength.

Jessop Busts Another Player

Sam Jessop is currently the chip leader.
Sam Jessop is currently the chip leader.
It continues to be smooth sailing in the early going for Sam Jessop. He and an opponent were all in on a flop of {J-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. Jessop held {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts} for top two pair; his opponent was on a stone bluff with {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. The turn {8-Clubs} breathed some life into Jessop's opponent by giving him a flush draw, but the river bricked {4-Spades}.

Immediately after the hand, a railbird wandered by and asked Jessop's opponent if he was still in. "I got caught bluffing and got punished," he replied as he stood up.

Jessop now has 47,500 chips.

Chuck Truck Rolling

Charles Chua has doubled up at the expense of Henrik Gwinner. With three players in for 1,000 chips each, Gwinner led out for 2,000 on a flop of {2-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Chua moved all in for over 8,000, sending Gwinner deep into the tank. He ultimately called and tabled {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Chua was on a draw with {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. The turn {5-Spades} gave him a few more outs; the river {K-Diamonds} gave him the best hand, a diamond flush.

"Don't f*ck with the Chuck," said Chua as he collected the pot. He now has 18,200.
