Chip Counts from Upstairs

Here are some of the counts from around the room upstairs in Studio 3.

Annette Obrestad - 86,000
Andrew "luckychewy" Lichtenberger - 70,000
Leo Margets - 56,000
Neil Channing - 25,000
Marsha Waggoner - 21,800
Julius Colman - 14,000

Marsters is Thirsty

Tim Marsters has been asking frequently for a cocktail server to come around to his table. "I just want my free drinks," he said.

Martster knows that the players downstairs are paying for their drinks while everyone up here in Studio 3 get free drinks. "We must be high rollers," said one of the players at the table.

Within a few minutes of his request, Marsters got his drink and even ordered another round to come by. The night is winding down, so why not.

Obrestad Doesn't Fall Into the Trap

Action folded over to Annette Obrestad in the cutoff seat and she raised to 1,600, the minimum raise one could make. The player in the big blind called.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} and the big blind checked. Obrestad fired 2,000 and was called.

The turn card was the {A-Spades} and the big blind checked again. Obrestad checked behind.

The river was the {4-Spades} and the big blind checked. Obrestad checked behind and announced, "You win, queen high."

The big blind then tabled {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} for aces full of fours.

"They just expect me to bluff!" exclaimed Obrestad, who's now on 96,000.

Happy Australia Day!

We've moved into the midnight hour of January the 26th, so on behalf of everyone at PokerNews, we'd like to be the first to say Happy Australia Day!

Please rise for our national anthem ...

No More Grunting

Peter Sennhouser raised from under the gun to 1,600. Action folded all the way around to Grant Levy on the button and he moved his last 5,875 into the middle. The two blinds folded and then Sennhouser made the call.

Sennhouser: {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Levy: {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}

"Fives have been good to me," said Levy.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} and Levy stayed in front. "Epic flop!" he exclaimed.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Levy asked for his hand to hold. The river, though, was he {J-Diamonds} and Sennhouser hit a pair of jacks to beat Levy's pocket fives.

Levy wished his table luck and exited to the rail.

Jesus Hits the Rail

Chris Ferguson made it 1,600 to go preflop before Van Marcus raised it up to 20,000 covering Ferguson. Ferguson put the rest of his stack in the middle and the cards were on their backs.

Ferguson: {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Marcus: {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board came down {j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Ferguson's Main Event run was over when Marcus turned two pair.

Ziigmund Joins the Cash Game

Million Dollar Cash Game

Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Rafi Amit are taking a short break from play in the cash game. Dwan has about $65,000 in front of him and Amit with $135,000.

Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies just sat in the game as well and bought in for $100,000. Before he actually took a seat, Dwan wanted him to draw a card from the deck to see where he would be seated; either Dwan's left or his right.

"Red you're here (pointing to the right) and black you're there (pointing to the left)," said Dwan. The dealer then pulled one card from the deck at their request and it was the {10-Diamonds}, meaning Sahamies took the seat to Dwan's right.

Break It Down

The tournament clock has been paused while the remaining 130 players go on their last 15-minute break of the day.

Upon their return, we'll play one final 90-minute level of poker before calling it a day (or night), (or morning, depending on how you look at it).

Back shortly.
