The 2023 edition of the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo festival runs from April 26 through May 6 at the luxurious Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. You already know that PokerNews is bringing you live and exclusive coverage from seven of the biggest EPT Monte Carlo events, including the prestigious Main Event, the tournament every player wants to win.
Some of poker's most recognizable faces and names have returned home from a trip to Monaco with the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event trophy in tow. Fourteen poker stars have written their names in the EPT's history books under the heading EPT Monte Carlo Main Event champion.
The remaining 39 players have now stepped out for a 75-minute dinner break. The action will resume at approximately 8:30 p.m. local time.

On the latest PokerNews Podcast episode, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen give updates on the PokerNews Cup on Global Poker, as well as the Matt Berkey vs. Nik Airball grudge match. Additionally, they discuss Nate Silver being out at 538, Patrick Leonard going back-to-back in the PartyPoker Sunday Party, and poker players having their fines dismissed from the Watauga Social Poker Club raid.
As for Connor, he chats with the legendary Patrik Antonius, who shares his plans for both the PokerStars EPT presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® and 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP), what it was like to capture his first Triton High Roller title, and of course, winning the largest pot ever broadcast on a US Live Stream. The new WSOP Thrill Team Ambassador also shares his thoughts on the current state of online poker. Don't miss your chance to hear from the Finnish poker legend!
Finally, Chad is headed down to Florida for the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown from April 28-May 2; while Jesse will head down to PokerGO Studio for the High Stakes Poker Live Stream.
Timo Kamphues, Nick Petrangelo, Tom-Aksel Bedell, and Dario Sammartino all put in some of their chips preflop to create a pot of 50,000. The flop was 7♣10♦9♠ and all four players checked their option.
On the 3♦ turn, Bedell led for 21,000 chips and now all three remaining players decided to call. The Q♥ river apparently scared them, however, as each one knuckled the table to signify a check.
All eight cards were shown down. Bedell could only show ace-high with his missed flush draw of A♦2♦.
"Nine?" Sammartino carefully asked, before tabling his K♣9♥. Kamphues had that beat, however, and showed Q♦J♣ for a pair of queens. Petrangelo had the same holding with his Q♣J♥.
"I'll take it," said Kamphues and the two players chopped the pot while Bedell was lamenting his missed flush draw in this rare multiway situation.

In a heads-up pot with close to 80,000 in the middle on a completed board showing A♥7♦3♣Q♥4♣, Roman Samoylov bet out 55,000 from the big blind and Aliaksandr Hirs moved all in for 97,000 total on the button.
Samoylov went deep in the tank, but after close to a minute of thought, made the call and the cards were shown. Hirs confidently tabled A♣A♠ for top set and Samoylov rolled over 7♥4♦ for two pair to double up Hirs.

Daniel Dvoress raised to 12,000 and Adrian Mateos called from the big blind.
The flop was 4♣6♠7♦ and both players checked through to see 3♠ on the turn.
Mateos bet 7,000 on the turn and Dvoress called.
The river was 5♥ to make a straight on the board and Mateos bet 63,000. Dvoress called with reluctance but Mateos showed Q♦9♣ and he did not have the higher straight. Dvoress showed A♣Q♣ and accepted the unlucky split pot.
