171 Entries for Day 1a of the WSOP International Circuit Main Event in Morocco
171 Entries for Day 1a of the WSOP International Circuit Main Event in Morocco

The first starting day of the 2015 World Series of Poker International Circuit Main Event at the Casino de Marrakech attracted a total of 171 entries, of which 63 bagged up chips after 12 levels of play. Of those entries, sixteen of them were second bullets for 15,000 Dirhams (€1,350) apiece. Ultimately it was Frederic Rizzo who shot to the top of the leader board at the end, accumulating astonishing 264,000 in chips and edging out Jorge Coello Esmoris's 239,800.

El Mostafa Ederoua, who finished third at the Winamax Poker Tour in Paris two weeks ago for €50,000, busted [Removed:253] at the end of level 11 and claimed 216,300 chips, good enough for third place overall. Other big stacks include Alexandre de Zutter (154,800), Mostafa Boukri (154,000), Masbah Ben Baba (153,700). Arnaud Peyroles (147,000) as well as recent World Poker Tour National Brussels finalist Miroslav Alilovic (138,000).

PMU Poker Team Pro Brian Benhamou (131,300) and Ludovic Riehl (111,000) also bagged up above-average stacks. Guillaume Darcourt was among the players to purchase a second bullet and tripled up at the very end.

Paul Francois Tedeschi (67,100), Fadhil Farag (48,000), Rebecca Gerin (47,400), Manuel Sadornil (47,200) and Anthony Rodrigues (22,800) will return with less than the average when the action resumes on Saturday at 14:00 local time.

Among those that didn't make it yet and have to re-enter Day 1b were such familiar names as Abdelhadi Kondah, Anas Tadini, Quentin Lecomte, Philippe Ktorza, Guillaume Diaz, Brahim Oubella, Frederic Hebette, Matas Cimbolas and Sonny Franco. It wasn't a bad day for Franco though as earlier in the day he took down Event #7 €540 DeepStack for a gold ring. In addition, Said El Yousfi from Switzerland also claimed a WSOP Circuit Ring today.

That's all for now, but make sure to tune back in tomorrow as of 14:00 local time for PokerNews Live Reporting when Day 1b gets underway in the heart of Morocco.

Darcourt in the Dark

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Guillaume Darcourt tripled up within the last few hands after moving all in in the dark with {8-Clubs} {9-Clubs} against two opponents with {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and {A-Spades} {8-Spades} to get up to more than three times the starting stack once again.

Frederic Rizzo also had kind of a rush hour towards the end after finding an opponent, who was willing to put 25 big blinds in with queen-six suited. Rizzo looked him up with {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} and scored the knockout towards the end.

Boukri Busts Blangenwitsch

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With a stack of 60,000 chips, Martial Blangenwitsch three-bet to 6,000 after a raise to Mostafa Boukri and was called to see a flop of {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}. Boukri bet and called the min-raise to 12,000 before the {J-Hearts} hit on the turn. Boukri bet again and then shoved after Blangenwitsch had raised to 30,000.

Blangenwitsch called all in with {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} for top set but Boukri had that beat with {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} for a turned straight. The river was a brick and that sent Blangenwitsch to the rail, who will be returning tomorrow for Day 1b.

Touali Busts in Three-Way All In

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Just before the clock was stopped, Kamel Touali was all in and at risk with {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. He faced two other opponents who had moved all in as well and couldn't beat the {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} of the one nor the {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} of the other as shortest stack.

The board ran out {10-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {3-Spades} {2-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and Touali took his belongings.

Braz is Bragging

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a raise by Jose Henrique Braz from under the gun, four players called to see the {6-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} flop. Khalid Rezki check-raised all in for 60,000 and Braz eventually called after his own continuation bet to put himself at risk for 53,000 chips. Rezki only had {6-} {8-} and Braz flipped over his {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}.

Once the {8-Diamonds} turn and the {K-Hearts} river had completed the board, the Portuguese burst out in celebration as if he had just won the tournament already. Rezki was left with a few big blinds and shoved the next hand without getting called.
