Anna's Alive

Gavin Smith raised to 1,700 from under-the-gun and was called by a player in middle position. The action the fell to Anna Wroblewski, who reraised all in for her last 4,100. Gavin then made an isolation play, reraising an additional 7,000, which prompted the middle position player to fold.

At the showdown, Gavin revealed {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and was slightly ahead of Anna’s {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Gavin maintained the lead after the flop came {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}, but the {10-Clubs} on the turn brought all the help Anna would need to take down the pot. An inconsequential {8-Clubs} fell off on the river and Anna doubled up to approximately 11,000 in chips.

Jerry Yang Eliminated

2007 Main Event Champion Jerry Yang
2007 WSOP Champ Jerry Yang has just been eliminated from the tournament by Bob Van Horne of Carlsbad, CA. Van Horne limped into the pot from the cutoff. The button folded and the small blind completed the bet, bringing the action to Yang in the big blind, who shoved all in for approximately 11,000 in chips. Van Horne made the call and tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, well ahead of Yang's {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Failing to get any help from the {K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades} board, Yang was eliminated from the tournament, receiving a nice round of applause from nearby tables as he exited the tournament area.

Jacob Survives a Scare

On a board showing {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Alex Jacob moved all in for his last (approx.) 6,000 holding pocket kings. After quite some time in the tank, his opponent made the call. When it was time to turn over the cards, Alex revealed his kings, which prompted his opponent to nudge his cards toward the muck, face down.

"Muck his cards," said a third party seated across from Alex.

"He mucked. Take his cards," added Ted Lawson, also at the table.

A floorperson was eventually called to the table and he ruled that the cards must be turned face-up. "Even if he buried them deep in the muck, I'd have to go in and dig them out," he explained.

When all was said and done, Jacob's opponent turned over {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}, giving him the nut flush draw and one overcard. Forced into a sweat, Jacob exhaled a deep breath in relief after the river delivered the {7-Hearts}.

Jacob stacked up just over 20,000 in chips with the win.
