Kim Falls Victim to a Massive Cooler

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jacob Kim moved all in for 142,000 in early position, and Gonzalo Jose called in the small blind. A large crowd of cameras, media, and curious onlookers gathered around as they waited a few minutes to turn over their cards.

Jacob Kim: KK All in
Gonzalo Jose: AA

Kim found out the bad news when Jose showed two aces against his kings. The A85 flop gave Jose top set, while Kim was already drawing dead after the Q turn. The river was the 6, and Kim was eliminated a few spots off the money.

Brian Yoon
Brian Yoon

Gevork Ketendjian called 8,000 under the gun, Mihai Isar called in the small blind and Brian Yoon was forced all in from the big blind.

The flop came K67, and Ketendjian bet 12,000. Isar called. Action checked to showdown on the 4 turn and A river.

Isar tabled A3. Yoon peeled the first card and showed the 9. He then peeled the second card slowly, but unfortunately for Yoon, it was the 3, ending his main event run.

Shields Down

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Andro Scarpa raised in the cutoff to 16,000, and directly to his left, Tyler Shields moved all in for 40,000. The blinds got out of the way, and Scarpa made the call.

The hands were kept face down as the tournament is on the bubble. Once the floor arrived to oversee and announce the hands and runout, the players revealed their holdings.

Tyler Shields : QQ All in
Andro Scarpa: A6

It was instant heartache for Shields, as the window card immediately paired his opponent as the flop came down A105.

The 6 turn gave Shields hope, as he now had a flush draw. However, the 7 was no help and sealed Shields' fate, sending him to the rail just a handful of places from the money.

Brandon Sheils
Brandon Sheils

Brandon Sheils kicked the action off with a raise to 18,000 under the gun. Alberto Destrade was the only player to call, doing so on the button.

Both players checked on the 10QJ flop, before moving on to the Q turn.

Sheils picked his betting lead back up, putting 22,000 into the middle, which Destrade called.

The river added another queen to the board, coming the Q. Sheils continued with aggression, putting out a more substantial bet of 170,000.

Destrade didn't take too long before returning his cards to the dealer, surrendering the pot.

Paukovitz Runs Into Overcards and Runs Out of Time

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
David Paukovitz
David Paukovitz

David Paukovitz had been hanging on as the short stack at the table, down to just 22,000. He was under the gun, took a quick look at his cards, and his expression said it all; it was now or never. He moved all in.

Joel Shackelford, sitting in middle position, three-bet to 62,000 to isolate, and everyone else got out of the way.

David Paukovitz: JJAll in
Joel Shackelford: AK

Paukovitz didn't want to watch. It seemed like he had a bad feeling, and the flop confirmed it, 6A10 gave Shackelford top pair. The 4 turn offered no help, and the 9 river ended Paukovitz’s Main Event run, sending him to the rail with his hopes dashed just before the money.

John Roveto: 22 All in
