Roman Korenev
Roman Korenev

Roman Korenev was waiting for the floor to confirm his elimination and he mentioned that his last seven big blinds had gone into the middle with ace-queen. That was ahead of the KJ of Maxim Babko, but the K98J8 board improved Babko to kings and jacks to deal the final blow.

Nguyen Calls for His 'One Time'

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Murly Manokharan opened to 160,000 from middle position and was called by Sejo Kasic from the hijack.

Jay Nguyen moved all in for 1,150,000 from the button before Bruno Furth reshoved for 1,605,000 from the small blind.

Manokharan folded and then Kasic flashed the A before releasing his hand.

Jay Nguyen: 99All in
Bruno Furth: QQ

"I have not used my one time this tournament. I would like to use it now," Nguyen said as the cards were tabled.

Unfortunately for Nguyen, Furth's queens held for the bust out after the dealer put out the 85483 board.

Sharma Hits the Wrong Seven Against Ramsey

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Amit Sharma
Amit Sharma

Nicholas Ramsey raised to 175,000 and instantly called the shove by Amit Sharma to set up the following showdown.

Amit Sharma: 99 All in
Nicholas Ramsey: JJ

The 865 flop gave Sharma a gutshot on top but one out vanished with the A turn. The river would be a seven but it was the 7 as that gave Ramsey the superior flush.

"Wrong seven," Sharma said with a smile on the face before exiting the tournament area.

Fan Spikes a Set in Three-Way All In

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Chih Fan
Chih Fan

Zhao Liu moved all in for 940,000 in early position and William Camp called in middle position. Action then folded around to Chih Fan in the big blind who announced a raise to 2,000,000. The dealer counted out his stack and found he only had 1,945,000 remaining.

The decision went back to Camp, who took a minute before calling, having both players covered and at risk.

Zhao Liu: 99 All in
Chih Fan: JJ All in
William Camp: AQ

"Oh my God," Fan said, standing up from his seat and taking a deep breath as he awaited the flop. The dealer turned over KJ7 to give Fan a set, while Camp picked up a straight draw.

The turn was the 8, while the Q arrived on the river too late for Camp as Fan scooped the pot to double off Camp and send Liu to the rail.

Peters' Main Event Story Reaches a Sad End

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Donnie Peters
Donnie Peters

Donnie Peters has told many Main Event stories in his long career as a poker journalist, but his own just hit an unhappy conclusion.

Mitchell Hynam had opened to 120,000 under the gun before Peters three-bet to 360,000 in middle position. Hynam came back with a four-bet to 900,000 and Peters moved all in for 2,125,000. Hynam took a minute before calling.

Donnie Peters: KK All in

Peters was ahead with his kings and poised for the double up until the flop brought AJ8, giving Hynam top pair. The rest of the board ran out 94 and Peters was sent to the rail.

Pisarenko Sends Locquet Deep Into the Tank, Then to the Rail

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Romain Locquet
Romain Locquet

In a blind versus blind battle, Romain Locquet bet 175,000 on a flop of QJ7 and Maksim Pisarenko called.

Locquet bet another 500,000 on the 9 turn, but this time Pisarenko raised to 2,475,000. Locquet went deep into the tank, taking several minutes to ponder the decision.

"Take your time. Big pot," Francis Anderson told. After more than five minutes, Locquet eventually stuck in his last 1,500,000 more and turned over Q10 for top pair and a straight draw, but Pisarenko already had the straight with 108.

The 6 river improved Pisarenko to a flush and Locquet's Main Event run, which included memorably cracking Jared Bleznick's aces back on Day 1, came to an end.

Joshua Beckstein
Joshua Beckstein

Anthony Augustino opened to 120,000 from the hijack before Joshua Beckenstein made it 350,000 from the small blind. Augustino went into a lengthy tank, checking his cards multiple times before moving all in for 1,125,000.

"Only thing making me pause is the Hollywood," commented Beckenstein, who was expertly handling a fidget cube.

After getting Augsutino's chip count, Beckenstein called.

Anthony Augustino: QQAll in
Joshua Beckenstein: KQ

Beckenstein went from three outs to seven after picking up a gutshot on the 1069 flop. The 8 turn was clean for Augustino but Beckenstein made his straight on the J river, putting a grimace on everyone's face.

Even Beckenstein felt he didn't deserve that one, shaking his head as he collected the pot.
