Skidgel Sent Home by Song

Wendell Skidgel was already all in and at risk from under the gun and covered by two players. Daewoong Song was in the small blind and Jamie Shaevel in the big blind.

The pot stood at around 1,500,000 and the Q♥K♥5♥ flop had just been dealt. Song checked, and Shaevel checked behind.

A 10♠ was turned and both checked again to see the 6♥ river complete the board. Song bet out 250,000 which was enough to see Shaevel muck and Skidgel got to see his fate.

Skidgel had turned a pair of tens, but it wasn't enough as Song had picked up the heart flush.

Arriving at the table to see Josh Arieh all-in and at risk for around 800,000 from the blinds, with Simon Britton trying to score the knockout from the button.

Britton had the chance to eliminate the seven-time bracelet winner if his pocket fours could win the race.

Arieh found no help on the 5♥6♥3♠ flop, and his hopes took another hit when Britton improved to a straight on the 7♥ turn.

The 6♠ river didn't bring Arieh a chop, and he wished the table good luck before making his exit from the Main Event.

Wellington Araujo raised to 100,000 in early position, and, after Daniel Hachem three-bet him to 250,000 in the cutoff, Araujo moved all in for 915,000, which Hachem called.

The 4♥9♥2♥ flop was a welcome sight for Araujo, not only keeping him in the lead, but also reducing Hachem's outs. That mattered not, though, as Hachem pinged the A♠ on the turn to take the lead. The 3♦ had no effect on the outcome, and Araujo slid his chips into the middle, took a photo of the board, and headed out.

Sannier flopped a set on K♣5♦8♥ to leave his opponent with only runner-runner outs. The 5♠ turn already solidified Mighall's elimination, and he took his exit as the meaningless 6♦ river completed the board.

Jared Griener opened to 100,000 in early position and faced a three-bet to 250,000 from Michael Renna on the button. When the action returned to Griener, he moved all in for 700,000, and Renna made a somewhat reluctant call.

A dream spot quickly became a nightmare for Griener, as the dealer flipped over a J♥5♥3♣ to give Renna the lead.

With around 650,000 already in the pot on a board of 7♣3♣K♦6♣J♥, Brian Yoon checked from the small blind and Abhishek Goindi fired 325,000 from the big blind. Yoon took his time before making the call.

Goindi tabled J♣10♣ for a flush, and Yoon slid his cards back to the dealer.

The hand left Yoon short-stacked, and he was eliminated shortly afterward.

Kenneth Asher raised to 80,000 in early position, and Sergio Aido three-bet to 240,000 on the button. When the action folded back to Asher, he responded with a four-bet to 780,000. Aido requested a count of the raise, but as soon as he had the number confirmed, he folded.

One table over, Frederic Normand put the last of his chips into the pot but didn't survive, and his Main Event was over for another year.

Curtis Nare was sat under the gun and had already battled heads up in a hand that reached showdown with DJ Sharma who was in the cutoff.

The board had ran out 9♣10♥5♠A♥9♥ and Nare had put his entire 870,000 stack at risk with king-queen. Sharma had him covered and was sitting with his ace-nine face up to take down the pot with the set of nines.

Nare left the tournament with just 230 players remaining and locked up a $50,000 payout.
