Too Much for Mota to Fade

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Action was picked up on a flop of JK4. Both players had caught a piece, as Rafael Mota and Artem Maksimov got all in with the latter the covering stack.

Rafael Mota: J984 All in
Artem Maksimov: Q1099

Mota's two pair was ahead, but he had to dodge the world as Maksimov had flopped massive with a wrap and a superior flush draw. The K turn gave Maksimov an extra two outs, and the 10 river improved both to a flush, but Mota was pipped by one to send him packing.

Lou Garza
Lou Garza

No-Limit Hold'em

Philip Mighall raised to 20,000 from under the gun, and Leandro Alvarez called from one seat over. Action folded around to Lou Garza in the hijack, who raised to 85,000, and Mighall called. Alvarez moved all in for 113,000 total, and both Garza and Mighall called.

The flop rolled out 1082, and Mighall checked over to Garza, who moved all in for 319,000 effective to put Mighall into the tank.

Before his first time extension had been hit, he called to bring the pot size to just under seven figures.

Leandro Alvarez: QQ All in
Phillip Mighall: JJ All in
Lou Garza: AK

Both Mighall and Alvarez led against Garza, but that changed on the A turn that gave Garza top pair and top kicker.

"Just in case," said Garza as he further improved on the river K to aces-up, and both of his opponents took their leave from the tournament. "You can't win this tournament by playing good."

Santhosh Suvarna found himself all-in and at risk from early position against cutoff player Joni Jouhkimainen, the covering stack.

Santhosh Suvarna: AQ All in
Joni Jouhkimainen: 88

The AJQ flop gave Suvarna an immediate lead, with the K turn giving Joni Jouhkimainen chop outs. He sensed they weren't coming, however, as he had already turned over his cards, and threw them at the board as the 2 river was dealt.

No-Limit Hold'em

Santhosh Suvarna opened to 16,000 from early position. Pavel Plesuv jammed 146,000 from the cutoff, and Joni Jouhkimainen reshoved on the button. Action folded back to Suvarna, who seemed to have quite the decision. He eventually opted on a fold.

Pavel Plesuv: 88 All in
Joni Jouhkimainen: 1010

The two traded outs on the 97J flop, with Suvarna clearly regretting his decision to fold. The 64 runout kept Jouhkimainen ahead, as Plesuv left the tournament.
