Chris Moorman

Chris Moorman is a British professional poker player residing in Brighton. Moorman was initially famous for his results at the online poker tables playing under the nickname “Moorman1” before he proved himself in live tournaments as well with a memorable performance at the 2011 World Series of Poker when he made three final tables, including a second-place finish at the WSOP Europe €10,000 Main Event in Cannes, France.

Intro

Moorman was born in 1985. He started playing poker online and built his bankroll from scratch. He took off by placing second in an online freeroll for $70 and things went on from there. He boasts a record of nearly $15 million in online winnings, while his live tournament earnings exceed $5.3 million. Moorman notched his first significant live tournament win in 2014 when he shipped the WPT LA Poker Classic Main Event. In 2017, Moorman won his first WSOP gold bracelet.

World Series of Poker

Although Moorman's first WSOP cash came in 2008, it wasn't until 2011 that he became a notable on the live tournament circuit. He started the year by final tabling the Aussie Millions Main Event and then went to Las Vegas for the summer where he cashed in five events making two final table runs. Moorman finished third in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed event for more than $270,000 and then bested his record by reaching the runner-up position in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed Championship collecting more than $700,000.

Just after the World Series in Vegas, Moorman traveled to Cannes, France for the WSOP Europe. Moorman scored his second runner-up finish in the Main Event taking home €800,000. A year later, in 2012 Moorman came back to Vegas for three more cashes including the 358th place finish in the Main Event for more than $30,000.

Moorman finally reached the winner’s circle in 2017 for the first time in a WSOP gold bracelet event after he shipped the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event for nearly $500,000. He picked up a second bracelet during WSOP Online 2021 when he won Event #29: No Limit Hold'em 8-Max Turbo Deepstack Championship.

In 2023, Moorman went on a run to the top ten of the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. The tournament offered a whopping $40 million guarantee and drew 3,835 runners for the popular December tournament. Moorman was among the chip leaders with nine remaining on Day 6 and had locked up at least $566,900.

Other Achievements

In 2011 Moorman made the Aussie Millions Main Event Final Table. He finished the tournament in seventh place collecting A$175,000 ($173,079) for his first six-figure cash. After his run in the 2011 WSOP, Moorman notched another six-figure cash in 2012 with a runner-up performance in the EPT Berlin €10,300 No-Limit Hold’em - 8 Max Re-Entry for €145,200 ($189,824).

Moorman nailed down his first major win in 2014 when he shipped the WPT LA Poker Classic $10,000 Main Event for $1,015,460.
He is also known for winning some of the bigge/st online tournaments as well as scoring multiple six-figure cashes.
