Capra Trips Over Shinzaki

On a flop of {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} Michael Shinzaki checked over to Sam Capra who bet out 1,100. Shinzaki made the call and the {8-Clubs} fell on the turn.

Shinzaki checked, Capra bet 2,000 and Shinzaki called once again to see the {4-Hearts} land on the river. Both players checked it down and Shinzaki tabled {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for trip fives to take it down. Capra slips to 29,000.

Edmonds Sails Into Chip Lead

Brendan Edmonds has a knack of accumulating a massive stack and already today he's up to 71,000 and we're only into the second level of play.

Edmonds' big stack came courtesy of a huge pot with full house over full house. We arrived with the board already spread {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Edmonds checking over to his opponent who fired 7,100. Edmonds went into the tank before declaring himself all in. It was then his opponent's turn to tank as his tournament life was on the line.

"Will you show me if I fold?" he posed but Edmonds was stone-faced. "Sorry guys...give me a minute...I have a full house," he continued.

Eventually the player declared a call with his {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} however Edmonds revealed {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for a bigger boat to take it down and move to a clear chip lead!

Woods Axed

Two players limped into the pot before Steve Topakas raised it up to 1,250. Darren Woods was the only player to make the call.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Woods checked to Topakas who made a bet of 1,600. Woods made the call and the two were off to the turn.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Woods again check-raised Topakas' bet of 3,000 to 17,100, or, his whole stack.

Topakas insta-called and tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a bigger flopped set than Woods' {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

The {j-Clubs} fell on the river and ironically three eights couldn't hold up for Woods, a Team 888poker player, and he hit the rail.

Pinzone Can't Quite Get a Fold

On a flop of {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} play checked to Michael Pinzone who fired 1,525. He found one caller before the player in the small blind check-raised to 4,425. Pinzone made the call as the third player stepped aside.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and the small blind checked to Pinzone who fired 3,800. The small blind made the call and the river fell the {7-Hearts}. Again the play checked to Pinzone who released 6,500. His opponent thought for a long time before making the call. It was a good call as Pinzone tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} which wasn't enough to better his opponent's {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Pinzone slips to 29,000.

Buchanan Break Even

Shawn Buchanan is back to even after taking some early hits.

Preflop, Buchanan opened to 450 and was raised by the cutoff to 1,050. Buchanan made the call and they took a {3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop. Buchanan check-called a 1,200 chip bet from his opponent.

The turn {j-Hearts} saw Buchanan check-call a 2,000 chip bet from the cutoff. They moved to the river {Q-Hearts} where they both checked.

The river was a kind card to Buchanan's {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} who back-doored the flush to stay in the game. He's back to 20,000.

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

A little Tender Loving Care reference for you... Man, Chilli was hot. Anyway, back to the pokers.

Tyler Netter and Joe Hachem were back at it moments ago, with Hachem winning another significant pot.

Action folded around the table to Netter on the button who opened with a raise to 600. Hachem made the call from the big blind and the flop came {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Hachem then fired bets on the flop (600), turn {J-Diamonds} (1,600) and river {Q-Spades} (2,800), all of which were called by Netter, who tossed his cards into the muck pile after Hachem tabled {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for trips at the showdown.

After the hand, Hachem stacked up 25,700 in chips while Netter fell back down to 13,900.

Chop Suey

Just before the last break, we caught the tail end of a hand between Philipp Gruissem and Andy McCreedy that we thought we'd share with you, our loyal followers:

On a board showing {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, action was checked to McCreedy who fired a 3,000 bet. Gruissem was the lone caller and the two went heads-up to the turn -- {4-Diamonds}.

McCreedy continued to put on the pressure, firing a 4,000 bet on 4th Street and Gruissem stuck around to see the river -- {6-Hearts} -- which put a seven-high straight on the board.

Here, McCreedy checked and Gruissem moved all in for a total of 6,800 -- a bet that sent McCreedy deep into the tank. He stared Gruissem up and down for a solid two minutes before eventually picking the required chips out of his stack and dropping them into the middle, signifying a call.

"Board," announced Gruissem, tabling {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. McCreedy, too, played the board, revealing {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and the two chopped the pot and headed off for the break.
