2023 World Series of Poker
"Aces three times," a tablemate said, pointing to the big stack of Quan Zhou across the table who has increased his stack past 350,000.
At another table, Gary Blackwood is also approaching 300,000 and notes he's doing a two percent Main Event giveaway on his YouTube channel.
Michael Latuf opened to 2,600 from under the gun and was called in two spots, including Barbara Sargent in middle position. Pedro Marques was one of the short stacks in the big blind and jammed all in for 17,400. Latuf called and Sargent reshoved all in as the big stack. Latuf thought for a minute but eventually decided to lay his hand down.
Pedro Marques: A♠A♥
Barbara Sargent: A♦K♠
"I folded the same hand," Latuf said to Sargent. As was the case, the board ran out 9♠8♣7♠Q♣4♦ and Marques tripled up with hardly any sweat at all.
Alex Foxen raised to 2,000 from early position and Ronald Spooner called from the next seat over. Big blind Jordan Grant also came along and the flop of 7♦Q♣10♣ was dealt.
All players checked before Foxen was the one to put in a bet of 4,000 after another check from Grant. Spooner called and Grant folded, leaving a few big blinds behind.
The 6♥ river then fell and Foxen shoved all in, covering Spooner's 14,500 remaining chips. Spooner mulled it over before eventually putting in the call.
Foxen showed A♦A♣ for the overpair and they beat the K♦10♦ of Spooner by a wide margin. Spooner left the tournament area while Foxen raked in a nice pot to chip up.
Meanwhile, Day 1b chip leader Jean-Pierre van der Spuy has also exited Day 2abc, after a disappointing day.
Joao Simao opened under the gun and Cristian Pernacastro called before Douglas Adkins three-bet to 5,500 in the cutoff. Simao replied with a four-bet to 23,000 and only Adkins stayed interested and called.
The flop gave 7♥4♦9♦ and Soma bet 5,600. Adkins announced all in for 70,600 and Simao went deep into the tank with a remaining stack worth 58,000.
"You really have nines?" asked Simao, not long before sending his cards into the muck.
As recalled by Kevin Gerhart, there had been a big pot unfolding on their table and it spelled the end for Nicolas Georgiadis. In a three-bet pot, he check-called a bet by Omar Lakhdari on the 10x8x2x flop and then check-raised big on the 5x turn. Georgiadis jammed the Kx river with pocket tens for flopped set only to get shown pocket kings for the superior set by Lakhdari.
Further assorted stacks from nearby tables can be found below.
The cards were already on their backs with Ante Kutlesa all-in and at risk. His A♠K♥ was crushed by the A♣A♥ of Jeffrey Deegan and the board ran out J♥10♣2♠4♣6♦ for Deegan to score the knockout.
Chris Brewer raised from the small blind to 3,200. Nicholas Torretti in the big blind shoved all in for his remaining 28,200 and Brewer called.
Nicholas Torretti: A♦9♦
Chris Brewer: K♦Q♠
The board ran out Q♣8♣A♣7♥3♥. Torretti found the full double up through Brewer.
