Flowers Doubles Through Guerra Part II

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Frank Flowers
Frank Flowers

Frank Flowers was all-in from the big blind on a K42 flop for 1,425,000 and Lautaro Guerra looked him up. Both had already gotten the chips in not long ago and Flowers had wanted another double to get even with the Spaniard.

Frank Flowers: K8 All in
Lautaro Guerra: QQ

The 9 turn and 9 river changed nothing and an excited Flowers celebrated his double once more.

"I love you," he told Guerra who replied "I don't love you anymore". Flowers even started dancing away from the table before he finally calmed down a bit again, still all smiles.

Tenorio Takes from Gibbons

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Alen Tenorio raised to 250,000 from under the gun with K9 and only Paul Gibbons called holding 99 from the cutoff.

The monotone flop of A63 checked through to see the 7 hit the turn. Another two checks saw the Q fall on the river. Tenorio bet 750,000, and Gibbons instantly folded.

Kassouf Runs Out of Time, Best Hand Goes In the Muck

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Joshua Beckenstein raised to 250,000 in early position with Q9 and was called by Will Kassouf in the hijack with KJ and Kohei Arai in the big blind with 96. The flop came A105 and Beckenstein continued with a bet of 300,000. Kassouf called and Arai got out of the way.

The turn brought the Q and Beckenstein check-called a bet of 650,000 from Kassouf who had the checkmark beside his name already. The river was the 5 and Beckenstein announced all in as the bigger stack. Kassouf was put to the test for his tournament life with ten seconds to act and his time ran out, putting the best hand in the muck.

Trost Sees He's Up Against the Nuts But Still Calls

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Craig Trost
Craig Trost

"Would you call it off knowing you're facing the nuts in the Main Event?"

Craig Trost found himself asking this in a heads-up pot against Michael Mizrachi to his left on a board of 678.

Trost had committed nearly all of his stack of 845,000 with just a single 5,000 chip behind. Mizrachi, thinking his opponent was all in, called and tabled the nuts with 109. Trost had a decision: call knowing you are up against the nuts, or fold and be left with less than a tenth of a small blind.

"It's a pretty weird spot," Trost said. "I mean, it's a legitimate decision."

Trost called and his cards joined Mizrachi's on their backs.

Craig Trost: KxKx

Trost was nearly dead but the 6 turn kept him alive as the table braced for what could be a crazy river. But the 8 bricked off and Trost was sent to the rail as Mizrachi's straight held up.

Han's Making Another Deep Run

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Yong Han
Yong Han

Yong Han opened to 250,000 from middle position and picked up calls from Ramon Pessoa in the hijack and Frank Flowers on the cutoff.

The K94 flop was checked around, and Han checked again on the K turn. Pessoa took a stab for 190,000, only for Flowers to raise to 575,000. Han responded with a three-bet to 1,200,000, which quickly forced both opponents to fold.

After the hand, Han exchanged some words with Lautaro Guerra, who asked how many times he'd played the Main Event. Han replied it was only his second time, and he's made both count. He finished 59th last year for $160,000 and has now locked up another top-90 finish.

Afriat Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Eric Afriat raised to 250,000 and Bruno Furth called in the next seat in the hijack, as did Murly Manokharan in the big blind. The 987 flop was checked to Afriat who bet 150,000 and received two callers. After the 7 turn, Manokharan checked again.

Afriat now bet 600,000 to force out Furth and the Canadian said "save your chips" to Manokharan when the latter gave it some thought. Manokharan folded and Afriat flashed the 9 before collecting the pot.

Minghini Has Kicker Problems

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
James Minghini
James Minghini

Giorgiy Skhulukhiya opened 88 to 240,000 from under the gun and Greg Merson looked down at KK on the button and three-bet to 750,000. Skhulukhiya quickly let it go.

In the next hand, Derek Sudell raised to 250,000 from the button with KJ and Jarod Minghini called in the small blind with J9.

Both made top pair on the 4J5 flop, where Minghini checked and Sudell threw out 400,000. Minghini called and they watched the 7 land on the turn, which checked through.

A 3 completed the runout and Minghini led out for 600,000. Sudell didn't need to think for too long before he called and took the pot with his bigger kicker.

Ponce Snaps Off Enjamio With Aces

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Nicolas Enjamio
Nicolas Enjamio

Francis Anderson was eliminated a few hands earlier at this table when he shoved for around 900,000 with ace-nine, but Nicolas Enjamio picked up two kings and Anderson failed to improve.

Enjamio, fresh off that knockout, then raised to 250,000 under the gun and Diego Ponce three-bet to 775,000 in the cutoff. Enjamio moved all in for 4,300,000 and Ponce practically beat him into the pot.

Nicolas Enjamio: QQ All in
Diego Ponce: AA

Enjamio had picked up another big pair, but this time he had run right into Ponce's aces. The board ran out KK737 and Enjamio was sent to the rail.
