Joshi Hits the Nuts on the River to Bust Vallinas

Racks were being handed out as Sachin Joshi's table was the next to break. In the meantime, Joshi and Jon Vallinas had built a massive pot of more than 1,000,000 going to the river on a board of 9♥7♠3♣Q♠4♣.

Joshi moved all in from the big blind, and Vallinas tanked for a few minutes until the clock was called. He eventually called for his last 400,000 from early position and turned over 10♠9♠, but Joshi had rivered a straight with 6♥5♥ to win the pot and send Vallinas to the rail.

The action was caught as Nicholas Boll had manoeuvred his stack of 390,000 into the middle preflop, and was at risk versus Matthew Lapossie.

The 7♦Q♣7♠ flop flipped the script, as Boll flopped a full house. His joy was short-lived, however, as the A♦ turn gave Lapossie a better full.

It wasn't to be for Boll; left with just one out to survive, he couldn't find it on the 9♣ river, sending him to the rail.

Ryusei Fujimoto raised to 40,000 from middle position and was three-bet to 110,000 by Jeremy Hyman on the button. Action folded back to Fujimoto, who moved all in for approximately 400,000. Hyman asked for a quick count and then called to put Fujimoto at risk.

It was a fair fight between two premium hands, but the 3♦8♠A♣ flop immediately paired Hyman's ace to pull him into a commanding lead.

Neither the 5♥ turn nor 9♠ river changed anything and Fujimoto was eliminated early on Day 5.

Mads Wissing raised to 40,000 from early position to see Artur Martirosian raise to 120,000 in late position. In the cutoff, Knut Karnapp moved all in for 130,000 to see action fold back around to Wissing who raised to 320,000, prompting an instant fold from Martirosian.

Charles Tabet was down to his last T-5,000 chip and sitting under the gun. He moved all in, and it didn't take long to see some action as Noah Bronstein, who was sitting to his direct left, opted to jam for 320,000. Action slowly folded around the table with some players hesitating for longer, looking tempted to join the pot, but eventually it continued heads-up.

Tabet saw he was behind, and the K♥3♣8♣ flop didn't bring him much to work with. Bronstein turned the nut flush draw after the dealer placed the 5♣.

Bronstein continued to see his hand improve on the 6♣ river and eliminated Tabet from the main event. Bronstein said to another player at the table, "I made the nut flush; I needed you to call that one!"

Marcel Luske was down to just a few chips, which he committed to the pot from middle position. Cutoff Thomas Cullis and Miguel Riera on the button then created a side pot, and the 2♦J♠9♥ flop was fanned.

Cullis bet 50,000, quickly getting Riera to fold.

Luske had flopped a pair, but it was not enough yet to conquer Cullis' tens. Luske received no further help on the 8♦ turn or 7♥ river, sending the Dutch poker legend to the exit.

A few hands later, Jacob Baumgartner was also eliminated from this table.

Xu flopped a set on 9♦8♦Q♦ and left Hastings drawing dead after the 8♣ turn gave him a full house. The meaningless 6♠ river was dealt as Hastings was already halfway to the exit.

Benitez Misses the Draw

Francisco Benitez was in the cutoff and already in a 600,000 pot with Ibrahim Naim, who was in the small blind. The pair were already on the turn and looking at a 6♣6♠5♦8♥ board.

Benitez checked, and Naim moved all in for 1,070,000, covering Benitez's remaining 505,000 stack. Benitez went into the tank and apologized to the table, but a couple of players said, "No, you take your time."

Benitez lifted his stack and slammed it on the table and flipped over his pocket sevens after a couple of minutes. Naim tabled his pocket tens, and Benitez saw he was behind, but he had some outs with the open-ended straight draw.

Benitez couldn't bring it back on the 3♥ river, and he hit the rail.
