Andrew Pantling Wins SCOOP-97-H: $5,200 PLO Main Event 2nd Chance
Andrew “ClockWyze” Pantling got his hands on the SCOOP-97-H: $5,200 PLO title and the $169,239 top prize after two days of intense poker action. Some 167 players entered the event and were reduced to only 21 after the first day’s play.
These 21 players returned for Day 2 knowing only 19 of them would receive any prize money. Joao “vovo_leo” Studart fell in 21st place shortly after the restart with “colladito” earning the unwanted title of bubble boy for their 20th place exit.
One by one the players fell by the wayside. The likes of Joao “Naza114” Vieira, Jean-Francois “bmwmcoupe” Talbot and Andras “probirs” Nemeth falling before the final table.
Each of the finalists locked up $35,061, the sum banked by Espen “locomi” Myrmo. “Argenin_GOd” and Konstantin “krakukra” Maslak then busted before Macau’s Chun Lei “SamRostan” Zhou crashed out in fourth.
Noah “Exclusive” Boeken may not log the volume he once did but he’s still a force to be reckoned with. The Dutchman fell in third place and walked away with $98,045.
Boeken’s exit left “zumbapoker” and Pantling to fight one-on-one for the title. Pantling and zumbapoker got their chips in on a king-high flop, each holding top pair. Pantling’s kicker came into play and secured him the title.
”thx4urmoney” Leads Last 16 of the SCOOP 96-M: $530 NLHE Main Event 2nd Chance
Only 16 players remain in the SCOOP 96-M: $530 Main Event 2nd Chance and it’s Canada’s “thx4urmoney” who is in pole position for the $348,643 top prize.
The Canadian finished Day 2 with 75,277,047 chips in their stack, almost 23 million more than nearest rival Fabio “LFFF22” Freitas of Brazil. It’s a substantial chip lead, but "thx4urmoney" knows winning this event is far from a done deal.
That’s because there are some superb players still in the hunt for glory. The likes of Bradley “mrbradleyy” Harwood returns to action with 48,305,650 chips, enough for third place. Then there’s such luminaries as “benderbei2” (41,692,601), Germany’s “cmontopdeck” (29,868,188, flying Dutchman Luuk “pokerluka” Gieles (22,834,354) and Leo “LeoFernandez” Fernandez (10,968,688).
Play resumes under the watchful eye of the PokerNews Live Reporting team at 7:00 p.m. CET and continues until only one player remains. That player will scoop almost $350,000 and the title of champion.
Andrey “Anjeyyy” Novak Leads SCOOP 96-H: $5,200 Main Event 2nd Chance Final Table
The 465-strong field in the SCOOP 96-H: $5,200 Main Event 2nd Chance has been reduced to the final table of nine and it’s Ukraine’s Andrey “Anjeyyy” Novak who leads the finalists back into battle.
Novak holds a relatively narrow chip lead in the race for the $416,742 top prize. He’ll be pushed all the way by a group of elite poker tournament players who certainly know their way around a major final table.
Pascal “Pass_72” Lefrancois sits down at the final table second in chips and with a realistic chance of yet more glory. Timothy “Tim0thee” Adams is also present, as is Will “hellzito” Arruda and Sweden’s Alfred “Kzzon” Karlsson.
Slightly down the chip counts you find such luminaries as Silvio “silskyer” Costa, recent SCOOP winner Pavel “silentm0de” Plesuv and fellow Moldovian pro “temka99”. Last, but certainly not least, three-time Sunday Million champion Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov is present as well.
It’s going to be a superb finale and we can’t wait to report on it for you.
