Ship It to New Zealand!

New Zealander Phillip Willcocks has just catapulted to the top of the leaderboard with the recent elimination of Pete Mobbs.

On a board showing {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, Willcocks and Mobbs traded raises until eventually getting it all in; Willcocks with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Mobbs with pocket aces.

The turn and river then filled out {9-Clubs}, {3-Hearts} giving Willcocks a full house to improve to 69,000 in chips.

Aristidou Accumulates

Peter Aristidou
Peter Aristidou
With a raise to 550 from middle position, Peter Aristidou made the call out of the big blind and the two player saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Aristidou checked and then called the bet of 800.

When the {7-Spades} landed on the turn Aristidou decided to lead out with a bet of 1,600 and his opponent made the call to see the {8-Spades} fall on the river. Aristidou again fired out, this time for 3,000 with his opponent making the call.

Aristidou showed {8-Clubs}{7-?} for a full house, which was good as he chips up to 25,500.

Not Enough Action?

Yes folks, for those of you that need more than one tournament to follow during the day you are in luck. PokerNews is also covering the $550 PokerPro no-limit hold'em shootout event. While the updates won't be as fast and furious there as they are here, we can guarantee one thing which the Main Event coverage won't have today - a winner.

Dwan Dominating

Dwan (during High Rollers Challenge): just one player on the "table of death"
Dwan (during High Rollers Challenge): just one player on the "table of death"
The action folded around to Australia's Luke Thomas who raised before the flop to 625. Tom "durrrr" Dwan called from the small blind to go heads-up to a flop of {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Dwan led out to 1,275, but Thomas made it 3,100 to go. Dwan called, then both players checked down the {q-Diamonds} on the turn.

Dwan then fired out 15,000 when the dealer produced the {4-Clubs} on the river, enough to put Thomas all in. Thomas went into the tank for about two minutes before tapping the table and throwing his hand into the muck.

Having qualified through a local pub poker league in Melbourne, Thomas has a huge task ahead of him, down to 13,000 in chips and sharing space with not only Dwan, but Phil Ivey, Billy "the Croc" and Raymond Rahme.

Meanwhile the man they call "durrrr" is cruising on 50,000 in chips.

Siu Down; Lederer Arrives

Jimmy Siu is down to 7,000 in chips after firing 1,800 on a flop of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} and being forced to fold when his opponent check-raised all in for 9,100 in total.

As things were looking bad for Siu, they just got a whole lot worse as "The Professor" Howard Lederer has just taken his seat at that table.

Damm Delivers on Monster Draw

A hand that was recalled to us by David Saab has got his table into a heated discussion about the mathematics and odds of the hand in question.

Warwick Mirzikinian started the action with a raise from early position to 900 with Saab and Kenneth Damm making the call.

The flop fell {A-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Damm checked to Mirzikinian who fired 900. Saab then popped it to 2,600 before Damm check-raised to 8,000. This forced Mirzikinian to fold but Saab moved all in with Damm making the call for his tournament life.

Saab was in front with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but Damm tabled a monstrous {5-Spades}{7-Spades} for straight and flush draws.

The {2-Clubs} hit the turn to give Damm his straight and a double up as the river bricked.

Following the hand, the players were arguing with Saab complaining about a bad beat as Damm defended himself by stating that he was a favorite when the money went in on the flop. Saab disagreed and this sparked Sam Korman to pull out a calculator and he worked out that Damm was actually a 51% favorite. Saab still wasn't convinced, claiming that his calculator was also wrong!

Saab is down to 22,000 with Damm up to 39,000.
