2025 World Series of Poker
Brian Arbaugh and Seun Oluwole were heads-up on a board of J♣3♥A♣8♠ when Arbaugh bet 200,000 from early position. Seun Oluwole then moved all in from the big blind and Arbaugh snap-called.
Seun Oluwole: A♦8♦
Brian Arbaugh: A♥J♥
Oluwole had flopped two pair, but Arbaugh had a higher two pair on the flop and held on the K♣ river to secure the pot. The stacks were counted down and Arbaugh had 800,000 remaining. Oluwole was barely covered and threw the rest of his chips into the middle of the table before heading for the exit.
Harold Lam raised for Matt Affleck to defend the big blind and check the A♣Q♥9♥ flop. Lam bet 45,000 and Affleck check-jammed for 130,000. A very reluctant call by Lam followed and the cards were tabled.
Matt Affleck: J♥9♣
Harold Lam: 6♣6♦
Affleck was ahead with his third pair and held thanks to the 5♥ turn and 4♣ river. However, the fortune would not last long as he was spotted on his way out soon after with the chips being pushed to Johan Schumacher.
Yuriy Boyko shoved for 135,000 from the small blind and Jiwoo Hyul called with a covering stack from the big blind to put him at risk.
Yuriy Boyko: A♦8♥
Jiwoo Hyul: Q♦10♥
The K♣9♣10♦4♥3♦ runout gave Hyul a pair of tens to end Boyko's Main Event run.
Andrew Wilson opened to 60,000 from middle position and Antoine Berruel three-bet jammed from the cutoff before Michael Capener moved all in for 95,000 in the small blind. Wilson folded.
Michael Capener: J♥9♣
Antoine Berruel: K♦K♠
"What's going on down there?" said Eric Afriat after seeing Capener's holding as the board ran out Q♦5♣5♦5♥Q♣ to mark Capener's elimination as he played the board.
A few hands later, Wilson again opened to 60,000 and Berruel again three-bet jammed. Wilson once again folded.
Timothy Miles was down to just 445,000 chips and ripped all in from middle position. Zhao Liu was in position and made the call to put Miles at risk.
Timothy Miles: A♣Q♦
Zhao Liu: A♠K♠
The flop of A♦J♦3♣ gave both players a pair but it was the kicker of Liu that kept him in the lead. Miles couldn't find any help on the 8♠, 5♣ runout which sent him out of the tournament area.
After his table change, Luke Chung was rewarded a double-up while the dealer announced "we have a spill" as the drink of Paul Gibbons next to Chung had hit the carpet.
For Chung's double-up hand, it was also a dirty job as he cracked the pocket aces of Shaun O'Donnell who then busted shortly after. The cards of O'Donnell were already in the muck while he paid off 820,000 to Chung, who three-bet preflop and called the four-bet shove with K♣K♥.
On a board of K♦8♠5♣3♠Q♣, the pocket aces were cracked and Chung also mentioned in table chat after that he had done the exact same thing one day prior.
With around 300,000 in the middle on a flop of A♠2♦4♣, David Smith bet 140,000 from middle position before Jason Cooper moved all in for 685,000 in early position. Smith turned to look at the tournament clock before calling.
David Smith: A♥Q♠
Jason Cooper: A♣K♥
Both players had flopped top pair, but Cooper was ahead with his king-kicker. Smith couldn't improve on the 9♦ turn or 3♣ river and Cooper locked up the pot.
The stacks were counted down and Cooper barely had Smith covered, sending him to the rail.
On a completed board of 4♠K♥2♦5♠K♦ and with approximately 600,000 in the pot, Rene-Charles Angelil checked from the big blind, and Jacob Lowery jammed for 500,000 from early position. Angelil got an exact count from the dealer and thought for a while before deciding on a call.
Loewry showed a busted flush draw with A♠10♠, and lost the pot to Angelil's K♠6♥ for trip kings. Loewry's Main Event came to an abrupt end, while Angelil increased his stack to 2,200,000.
