Ivey Stories Ep. 10: Phil Ivey Gets Slapped Across the Face by Daniel Negreanu
Welcome back to Ivey Stories, PokerNews’ video series which seeks to explore experiences with the legendary Phil Ivey. For the 10th edition of Ivey Stories, Remko Rinkema caught up with European Poker Tour Live commentator Joe Stapleton.
Back in Season 8 of the EPT, “Stapes” went out for a crazy night of partying with Ivey and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu. At the end of the night, Negreanu ended up slapping Ivey across the face no less than twice and Stapleton tells us the story.
“The backstory to this is that I’ve hung out with Ivey, and I’ve done different things with Ivey many times over the years,” Stapleton prefaces. “He just never quite seems to remember me. That sort of has something to do with the end of this story.”
Stapes then launches into one of the most entertaining accounts of Ivey Stories to date. Check out the full story below:
