PokerStars SCOOP 2021

One of the most successful players in PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker history continued his excellent run of results in the series as Joao "Naza114" Vieira took down SCOOP-43-H: $25,000 NLHE [8-Max, Super High Roller], $1.5M Gtd, winning $469,987 in a field of 71 entries.

It's the fifth title for Vieira in SCOOP and the second year in a row in which he's snagged a six-figure win in the series. Last year, he won SCOOP 33-M: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, Thursday Thrill], $1M Gtd for $186,422.

Additionally, he was crowned Player of the Series in 2017.

This time around, he went from a short stack to winner after a topsy-turvy final table that saw some of the shorter stacks make it to the end while some who came in with bigger stacks fell early on.

The day got started on a good note for Vieira as he flopped a set early on to win a pretty big pot and get among the big stacks. He also scored the first elimination when a dominating ace held against the ace-three suited reshove of Samuel "€urop€an" Vousden.

Vieira continued building from there, but start-of-day leader Michael "imluckbox" Addamo who scored a series of knockouts to reassert himself as co-favorite with Vieira. Addamo's typically swingy journey included some highs and lows but he seemed to be in good shape after busting Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, who called this the "ultimate final table of death," in fifth place.

However, Addamo would go down in fourth after a very unlucky spot saw him make queens full only to run into the slowplayed aces full of Vieira after the latter limped blind versus blind.

Of course, the flip side was that it was a dream scenario for Vieira, who then had two-thirds of the total chips. From there, he had Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph and Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski in a tough ICM situation, especially when they were even-stacked.

While Badziakouski would ultimately bust Rudolph to give himself a fighting chance, he just ran a pocket pair of fives into Vieira's stronger tens on the first hand of heads-up play to end things in a flash.

On the first hand of heads-up play, Joao "Naza114" Vieira made it 247,200 and Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski shoved for 5.6 million.

Badziakouski found nothing on the runout and had to settle for second place.

Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski opened for 240,000 on the button and Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph called in the big blind. Rudolph check-called 120,000 on the flop and 480,000 on the turn. On the river, Rudolph checked and Badziakouski shoved all in. It was for 1,485,452 effective, just under the pot size.

Rudolph tanked well into his bank and ultimately went for the call. His was no good against for trips.

Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski shoved in the small blind for about 1.6 million and Joao "Naza114" Vieira called with . Badziakouski had the goods with , though and he flopped a king to make it a short sweat.

Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski limped in and called 350,000 from Joao "Naza114" Vieira. Badziakouski check-called 200,000 on then faced a bigger bet of 853,125 on the . He checked the and Vieira tanked awhile then checked back.

Badziakouski turned over but was second-best against .

Joao "naza114" Vieira raised to 206,000 on the button and Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski called in the big blind. Badziakouski check-called a small sizing of 150,000 on the ultra-coordinated flop. Both players checked the and Vieira tried a small bet of 250,000 when checked to on the .

Badziakouski paid off with something that couldn't beat .

Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski completed the blind and Joao "Naza114" Vieira checked. Badziakouski check-called 114,000 on the . The checked through, bringing a . Badziakouski bet over the size of the pot with 500K and Vieira called with for two pair. That was enough to beat .

This hand came in the midst of Vieira winning six straight pots as he's now in complete control.
