Joshua Gebissa is a German poker player and former pro footballer who won the inaugural $8,000 Triton ONE Main Event for $975,225 in September 2025.
Gebissa played Defensive Midfield for VfB Lübeck before taking up poker. He had $229,028 in Hendon Mob earnings and a career-best score of $40,099 before making history by becoming the first-ever Triton ONE Main Event champion.
Gebissa's victory on South Korea's Jeju Island came after a heads-up deal with Punnat Punsri, a high-stakes pro with significantly more experience than the then-30-year-old.
“Yesterday we already played a bit at the table," Gebissa told Triton in a winner's interview. "I didn’t know him personally before. This is my first-ever visit to Jeju, so usually I just see him on stream … So I realized he’s actually a very nice guy. He was really nice to play with. He’s kind of a legend of the game. Playing heads-up versus him for a big trophy, can’t get much better than this, I think.”
